What is the advantage of putting a flammable substance that weighs less than water in your ties?

It doesn't freeze. I don't think it will burn as much water as is in it. I will find out tonight. When I get home from work I am going to drain a little from a tire and do a non OSHA approved experiment...

Besides I quit wearing ties a long time ago:) Hope you have since of humour and don't know where I live.....

I stopped by the tire store I get my tires from and he said not flammable when mixed with water. He said it would cost me about $1.50 a gallon. I looked up a chart and it takes a 25% solution to be good to -10 degrees. Found a chart at messicks. Takes 55 gallons for 17.5x24. So 110 gallons total, at 25% methanol would take about 28 gallons of methanol. Cost about $45.00 if my math is right...

Feel like I'm talking to self but, just conducted my experiment. Drained a few ounces into a tin can, dropped a match in it didn't burn. Poured about a tablespoon out on a steel beam and held a propane torch on it until it boiled away , did not burn. My conclusion is ... it doesn't burn.

I forgot to check the weight of pure methanol, but since the tire will be 3/4 full of water, I think it be sufficient or I hope so.

Methanol is 6.6ish per gallon.
Beet juice is 11 per gallon.

Is that put in? I just priced undiluted methanol at a tire store on the way home at $1.50 a gallon. Maybe I better hurry up and buy it before he raises his price.

If RV antifreeze is used can it be deluded or does it have to be straight RV antifreeze?

RV antifreeze is usually pre mixed and set for a certain degrees below zero. It can be diluted but that will raise the below zero set point.

If you have a Rimguard dealer near you, call them and have them give you a price per gallon and install if you can transport your tractor to them. My L3400 was $150.00 installed for the rears. My opinion, it was a cheap investment for added safety.
