JD 2025r
Very frustrated with JD regarding the purchase of a new 2025R. Sales person is difficult to contact and won't return calls. Said it would be here by 8-1. Messages left and no return calls. Guess if I'm not a cotton or peanut farmer buying a 350k piece of equipment I'm not worth much to deere.

Hopefully it is just the person and/or the dealer business and not a reflection of Deere. OTOH, the dealer business and the person I dealt with on my Massey were awesome. He delivered ahead of schedule and followed up regularly for about a month to make sure everything was as I expected. They have been very helpful since with respect to maintenance and general questions too.

You might look for alternative dealerships in your area. Dad has a JD 4300 and uses a dealer for service and parts different than the selling dealer. Similar situation as yours.

just leave a message "if it's not here by your promised deadline of 1PM , don't bother to deliver ... just cancel the order ... I won't sign for delivery if it late" .... and leave it on the general answering machine ( not some extension ) .....

Don't get mad at JD, it's your dealer that is jacking you around.

Oh, and JD is supposed to be the greatest! Wrong. As said earlier, this appears to be a dealer problem, not manufacturer. That's the problem w/ these big dealers, they don't care about the small guy or the small equipment.

That sometimes happens when buying green!

Unfortunately I am dealing with the dealer, not JD direct so I make my judgements on the dealer. Not fair maybe but why should I have to shop other JD dealers so I can spend 25k? If I shop it will be for another brand. When a transaction starts like this it usually doesn't get better.
After three msg today I went up to his place. He was sitting in his office hands behind his head. More promises. This has been going on for a month. Now says another 3-4 weeks.
A dealer with 20 locations across the southeast should be able to get this tractor. I think he forgot until just now. I'm just a small buyer.

You're absolutely right! You're small potatoes. He sees a one time sale with probably no repeat business. He'd rather pursue the hard dime than the fast nickel. He has probably been quite successful selling the big iron, and really doesn't want to be bothered. If it were me, I'd go immediately to the dealership, demand to speak to the owner and explain to him the whole situation. After he had jumped down the salesman's throat, and I'll bet he will, I'd thank him for his time, cancel the order and explain to him that if I had this much trouble purchasing, I couldn't imagine the problems I'd have with service, and go elsewhere. Believe me, there are a lot of dealers that would love to take your money.

Every dealer is different. My John Deere dealer is a big dealer, multiple locations and sells lots of big equipment. When I come in to buy a quart of hydraulic fluid, they fall all over themselves to help me.

I wouldn't waste my time going down there, especially if the OP really was going to cancel. The chance of him finding the actual "owner" is nil, he did say he had 20 locations. It's a unique problem for Deere in many areas, taking your business to the next store is fine, he owns that one too!

Basically, you're just wading through salespeople until you find one you can stand. Hopefully he works at a dealer close enough to your house for service. Enough people will only buy Deere so this business model still works.

So the OP can either cancel or take his new place in the "When's my new Deere getting here" line. Either way, the dealer really doesn't care. Just remember, they do make different color tractors!

I quit buying new farm equipment and now only buy used stuff. I have a few out of state dealers that sell nothing but used stuff. They are awesome to work with and treat you the way the dealers selling new stuff should treat you.

I had a similar experience with a dealer that actually sells both JD and Kubota. I was buying a landpride landscape rake from them. Kept getting the run around from the salesman. Went in there got my deposit back and found one somewhere else for $50 cheaper same day.

This salesman is at an age that might be toward the end of his sales career. However that is no reason to ignore a customer. Why not have one newbie salesperson specialize in lawn equip and CUT's? BTW I bought an x320 and a stihl chainsaw from same sales person in the past year. So I'm not a stranger.
No rain in 2 weeks so grass isn't growing. I'm not calling him again. Maybe ignore him after they travel to pick up at another dealer.

might be time to get the deposit back , then write a letter outlining why you cancelled the contract to JD headquarters ... they will find the owner, who will then find the sales person ( if he cares about his bottom line )...

then go find yourself a real dealership ( color doesn't matter ) and explain what you want and WHEN you want it and get it in writing... toss in some penalties if they don't deliver on time .... ( they charge you for late payments don't they? ) .. free oil changes, free delivery, free first and second services, or some other thing .... it's called negotiations .... they won't mind the penalty "extras" if they never have to pay out ....

THEY have a "standard contract" but no law says you can "add" anything to it ... don't be afraid, it's your money and there are other dealerships if this one doesn't want to play ball....

The dealer I deal through here in Georgia is awesome. When I purchased my 5083 they forgot to put a top link on it, which I didn't have any work for it right away. When I called them and said it had no top link, they came out the next day and put a radio in the tractor for free just because of the top link deal. They've been good to us on multiple occasions.

You didn't ask for the radio? They just brought it out just because? I never get free stuff like that!

Look at his signature- he's got his own Deere store almost. Bet it was an AM radio with dial instead of buttons!

To OP time to let them know you mean business, even if they don't, and walk your deposit elsewhere.

Sometimes it depends on how much you by from a dealer.

I know. He has about 3 plantations plus some big farmers under his wing so I'm small. Too bad this dealership has that attitude but I have read the same thing on here before.

A good salesman makes the deal a real pleasure and a bad one is miserable.
Sometimes your stuck because there are no alternatives. But when I have an option and don't like the sales rep. I keep moving. Life's too long to buy from a so and so.

Something to think about:
A good salesman will push the service dept. when you need them.
If your stuck with a bad salesman, you better make friends with the service manager.
And if you don't like either, you are crazy to buy from that dealer.
