L3650 shuttle shift problems

My L3650 DT GST is having problems now on a continuous basis with the forward reverse lever shifting.
From what I learned it looks like I might need to split the tractor. But I also found out I might be able to gain access by removing the transmission side plate.
I have already ruled out the linkage by removing it and just using the lever on the side of the tractor transmission. anyone out there have this problem?

I owned a M4900 that had to be split because the Sync-shuttle got stuck in reverse. The syncronizer were worn out and had to be replaced. Reverser on your L3650 is similar to reverser on my M4900. My M4900 had been used on a dairy with 400 rs on tach when I bought it. Other than inspection I see little that could be done to correct your tractors problem through the side trans cover.

Thats what I was afraid of, I am pretty handy but not willing to take on splitting the tractor. just a note it dose not stick in forward or reverse it wont go into reverse when you have been in forward. another note if I plant the bucket down and roll it so the tractor moves like 1 inch it will slip right in. ???
