Hi all,
I'm about to order the 48" EA box blade and thinking about the residential delivery option ($80). They require I be around during a time window and able to unload the blade.

I've got a BX25D with the BXpanded forks. The loader is good to 550-ish lbs at the bucket (and only under certain conditions). I haven't really had an opportunity to test how much this thing can really handle with dealing with pallets out farther from the bucket and looking for folks to weigh in.

The box blade is 310lbs + 50lbs for pallet and packing materials (called EA and this was their number) == 360lbs

What do y'all think?? I'd hate to be staring at the box blade on the truck and not be able to get it down.

Thanks in advance.

As long as you have the hoe on the back, I think you will be fine. You could always grab a nice log with the thumb and put the weight of it further out to gain front lift.

Thanks Ryan. I was definitely brainstorming about something heavy I could grab with the backhoe, I'll keep thinking on it.

Anyone else?

I believe you will be fine with just the backhoe on the back.

When my tractor was delivered, they took the box blade off, lifting it with chains and backhoe. But that was off regular pickup truck hieght.

It probably depends on how is banded to the pallet as long as you can pick it up your full height to pin is only 71" a standard semi bed is 60" I have feeling you probably be able to lift it but your might be up near the upper limit of what you can lift assuming the center of mass probably going to be > 20" from your lower pins if it comes on a standard 48" sized pallet. if its narrow you might not have any problems assuming you don't have to pull it out lengthwise like the photo below. That would put the center or mass out 360 lb 24" out plus the distance of the pin to the the loader forks.

can you get liftgate delivery? that would solve your problem
Tractor data suggest you can lift
Lift to full height (at pin): 745 lbs [337 kg]
Lift to full height (at 500mm): 518 lbs [234 kg]

I am in an agricultural county, 35 miles from Gainesville, Florida, not a big city. There are about six truckers that make local deliveries here, from freight depots in Ocala, Florida 65 miles distant. I have never had a truck arrive with an implement without a delivery lift on the trailer, so while I do pay for residential delivery, I do not pay extra for trailer-lift delivery. That is my experience. Your situation may be different.

CONSIDER SAFETY FIRST. If you do not have a good number of hours on the BX25 do not try a relatively high pallet/implement pickup, it can not only be intimidating and frightening, it can be highly dangerous. You must add the weight of your forks as part of the load. At the height of a trailer bed I would guess you are very close to max. Is the ground level, smooth and hard where you will have to position the tractor? You do not want to make a high lift from dirt or gravel.

If you are in doubt, pay the $80. After the load is off the lift you can experiment at leisure and you will know your capability when your next implement arrives.

I always tip the drivers $10 'for lunch' when the truck arrives. They never forget this unusual practice and are extra helpful. Have a rope handy, so the driver can help steady the implement from within the trailer, safely. (Load can't fall UP.)

I am sweating with anxiety for you as I write this.

PS: The freight depot knows where the truck is at all times. If you call the depot, and their customer service is good, they should be able to estimate delivery time accurately.

When you pay the extra $80 for home delivery it is with a truck that has a lift-gate. You will receive it on the ground and not have to get it off the truck. I tried to lift a 550lb chipper out of the back of my pick-up last week and the rear wheels started to come off the ground, but I didn't have the hoe on there. You will be fine.

All -- thanks very much for your feedback so far! It seems like I am working at the edge of the envelope as far as this situation is concerned.

Per the EA website, it's $80 for residential delivery without a liftgate and $216 for residential delivery + liftgate service.
Link to EA website: EverythingAttachments.com has a huge free shipping zone!!

So I set about trying to figure out if I could save some $$.

I may try and figure out how to get 360lbs on a pallet and "test" a bit.

Other option, of course, is to drive to their depot and get them to stick it in my trailer. But it's a bit of a drive.

I would bet your BX25D will lift a pallet weighing 360 lbs without breaking a sweat or lifting the rears, as long as your backhoe is on. If it makes you feel better put 100 lbs of rocks(or more steel) in the backhoe bucket or grab something like you talked about with the thumb. Let us know how it goes.

Will do - thanks again for all the comments!

Just push it off the back of the truck, I hear EA makes a pretty tough box blade. :D

Bought my KK 48" box blade used and they used their big fork lift to load in my pickup just inside the tailgate. I unloaded it with my BX1860's fel. Put the cutting edge just under the ripper bar and chained the back edge tight to my bucket hook. Tilted back a little and lifted up - carried it much easier than I thought it would. I set it on the ground then attached to 3ph where I carried it to it's new spot. No prob with tipping or the weight.
Enjoy and be proud of your moment of exitement! KW

Order it ,cut the bands and lift just box blade off then throw pallet on ground. Done quick and easy

I would go for it. Like some people have already said, with the hoe on the back, you will be fine. The hoe weighs 700 plus lbs.
You pending delivery, reminds me on a delivery I did in front of my house. The difference is, I used my B3030.

Exactly what I was thinking! I took a 400+ pound Sawstop cabinet saw out of the bed of a pick up with the loader and some heavy duty straps last spring. I think you will be fine.

I was thinking along mjcountrybumpkin lines - ditch the pallet and just slide it on the forks (run a ratchet strap to the bucket if you want to make sure it doesn't slide around) and just sit it down.

I lifted my Taylor Pittsburg 48" tiller off of the delivery truck with my BX-25D, I couldn't lift straight up, but by curling it first it then lifted right up. It says they're about six hundred pounds. I had the hoe on, and only went straight back enough to clear the truck, then lowered it to about six inches and put it in my barn.
I don't think you'll have any problem with your box blade.
Good luck!
Jerry

Another option if you have a good relationship with a local dealer (or other business) is to have it delivered there and go pick it up if you have a way to load it there.
