Been driving all over looking at every color of the rainbow! Narrowing down my choices, hoping to make a purchase soon as long as the taxman doesn't put the screws to me too bad.

You need to sit on them on move some dirt and your machine will tell you your mine!

You might consider hiring in some heavy equipment for the timber work. Once that is done, buy a tractor based on the maintenance needs of the property.

I hired a dozer for the heavy land clearing on my property one time. After he left, I cleaned up the aftermath with my JD 3320. I now use the JD for property maintenance.

Once you narrow down your decisions to a few tractors, go to the dealer and drive each machine. I was down to a few tractors and within minutes of driving each one I knew the JD was for me.

We did this. I picked at remaining large red oaks (died of oak wilt fungal infection - 80+ yrs old on sandy soil) one at a time. I couldn't see getting a larger tractor for 'only' 3 acres exurban plot. The SCUT does the job for me.

Hope this is helpful.

Indeed - that's the best part of my shopping adventures.

A bit off-topic, but you guys can cut down oak trees? They are protected on this side of the pond.

There are no legal restrictions here. I understand your concern though. Our farm has 60 acres of mostly large Oak. I only cut one when it's dying or dead.

I cut hundreds of oaks and others a year to thin my woods out. Part of our Forestry program.

Four if I count my Brother's Murph. Usually ya can just unload the saws and sit em on the ground by the dying tree and it simply gives up and falls itself. :D

Thanks for the info guys. So let's forget about moving large logs. Let's also only think about Kubotas since I am most familiar with them... just to get an idea on the size of tractor I need, then I can compare my ideal tractor to similar tractors of other brands.

I think a small B series would make sense for more ground clearance in my woods. I've always heard that the B2620 is the sweet spot B series tractor, but now realizing it is probably more than I will ever need. So how about the B2320?

Why might someone want the narrow B2320 vs the regular, or vice-versa? Is is mostly about getting through tight areas?

I would imagine. They use this picture in their advertising materials for the narrow

I'm sure you'll enjoy the B series regardless of which model you get.

To decide between the 2620 versus 2320. If you were buying a new car or truck, would you get the small engine or go for the bigger engine?? Use that same mentality in deciding which tractor to get. Only other thing to consider would be if the 26 offers features the 23 doesn't. Features I look for most are "position control 3pt", "extendable 3pt arms".

As to the narrow models. They are mostly used in Orchard situations. If you land is flat, then it's something you might consider. Otherwise I would avoid a narrow model for fear of tipping it over on a steep slope.

Hi all. New member here. I am in need of a tractor for 2 acres of land and would like suggestions on the size of tractor I will want. I will need to move snow from my driveway and sidewalk, haul dirt/gravel/firewood/rocks, clear forest, eventually till, and maybe some digging. The land is mostly forest that I will be clearing for garden space. There is very little grass but I have a push mower to take care of that. I have a standard garage space to store the tractor.

I've mostly been looking at Kubotas since there is a dealer close to me. The B series I've been researching. There are also close JD dealers. 20 miles away there are more various dealers.

As a side question, will moving snow off a sidewalk that is maybe 3 ft wide ruin the grass on the edges if I use a tractor?

I would recommend larger equipment for the initial work, something like a Kubota L45 tlb or M59tlb. Problem is that is way to big to maintain 2 acres. I really think you need to separate the initial work from the long term maintenance work. While you can make this a DIY project and buy the larger tractors and equipment to do this it would be at a high cost. I maintain a lot of 2 acres parcels with a garden tractor, but would not recommend less than a 50 hp tractor for the initial work.

That said I would consider rent or hire a contractor for the heavy work and buy a small tractor that fits your maintenance needs.

Since you've settled on a small B let me recommend a B7610 :) Big enough to do a lot, small enough to get thru a 5' gate. Or a 2320 :)

I've been able to do a fair bit with my 7610 and look forward to doing a lot more.

I looked very seriously at the Kubota B Series and thought maybe the B2920 would be a good bet. I just decided I couldn't live with the quarter inching valve 3PH, turnbuckle stabilizers, no extendable lower links, live PTO etc. I prefer the B2630/3030/B2650 etc. They are however significantly more expensive. As an alternative, my brother recently bought a Kioti CK27.

I went through a similar thing. I only wanted one tractor to do all my work. One engine to maintain(maintaining the big trucks consumes my life, don't need more headaches.) So it needs to mow 2 acres and I also do my own firewood in 5+ acres of bush.
I bought a B2620 (more loader capacity than the 2320 at just about the same footprint.) Kubota wasn't on my initial want list, but now that I bought one, I love it.
The problem we share is for our logs and my snow removal......we really need a bigger tractor. But anything bigger than the B would be overkill for 2 acres of lawn. (Unless you are the type that buys an F-450 diesel and only drive to get groceries, which many people seem to do?)
So you have to make a compromise or buy a big tractor and a dedicated mower.

In my case, I have discovered I can easily lift and carry 9 foot long, 19" diameter maple logs with my B, to my surprise.

How might the B2320 handle snow? I have short (100') driveway and typically ~12" snowfalls. Sometimes get a big snowfall of 24". And can the loader on a B2320 handle that much snow for the most part? I don't have much need to move mountains of snow.

I categorize an FEL right next to an aluminum shovel for clearing a driveway. They are good for piling it high. But in your case, it'll work fine if it's what you've got. 100' driveway isn't much snow to move. You'll have fun doing it!!! :)

Even though my B7610 has never been north of the Mason Dixon line we have had about 4 major major snowfalls since 2009. My biggest problem was getting the tractor shoveled out. As soon as I got room to move it handled about 20" with ease. Just with the FEL. A blade would have even been easier. I did have chains on.

You will be fine with the fel with only 100 feet....as long as you don't have a big turnaround area. Otherwise it will take time chasing the windrows.
No problem with power or traction though.

My driveway is close to 800' long. Snow blower that hangs off the front of the machine is how I have done it the past two years. Not sure why I lived there all that time without one.
