Polaris Ace UTV! Something new!

/ Polaris Ace UTV! Something new! #2
I worked at a Polaris/John Deere dealer as a mechanic for the last 6 months or so. Just got a new job a few weeks ago, must have been right before theygot the info for this. Looks pretty cool, I'll fill in any more info if I hear anything else about it.

I assume it will go will with people who like to do long milage rides on their own or with multiple vehicles.

I know its a different machine, thats why i said Sort Of.

The concept of a sit down ATV with a roll bar, steering wheel, high back chair, rear engine etc. came from the Odyssey and before that dune buggies.

The Ace adds 4wd and a rear box which is great, but it certainly can trace its lineage back to the Odyssey.

And I too wish that Honda brought the Pilot back. They were a ton of fun in the right locations (anywhere you'd take a 2wd sport ATV).

Maybe Honda will bring it back! They were so ground breaking in the late 80's! The Pioneer is a pretty impressive machine.

Does anyone wear helmets with their ATV?

I like the ACE - looks like a lot of fun and there are people who like ATVs but are a little scared of them. I hope this brings new people into the sport (off roading in general) and I think it maybe good for older kids.
Heck, I may even have to look into one in the future!

They are sub 400cc and limited to 45mph.. one of the reviews I read said they rode great and handled well. Probabkt take some of the fear out of it for new drivers and increase safety overall. I thought about selling off one of my ATV's and preordering one from our dealer but I am mostly utility with my quads and need the extra grunt

Worked on the FL250 Honda Odyssey (Canadian version) years ago. It was a two-stroke belt drive piece of s**t. Honda never understood the belt drive systems like Polaris and Yamaha did. And the two-stroke was hard on fuel. Had to service six of them used at an amusement park setup. Endless amount of service work.

I can remember seeing them used in that capacity. Bet that was endless hassle! Amazing that Honda could not understand cvt. don't they make snowmobiles?!

Interesting.

I used to ATV with a couple guys that had them. They never had an over abundance of maintenance to do to them and they rode them relatively hard. Maybe thats the difference between someone who owns and drives vs. random drivers who dont give a **** at an amusement park?

Also interesting were the Poos that ran with us were constantly breaking down, front end, push button 4wd and belt drives in particular. And most of them were owned by a Polaris mechanic! Albeit he was probably the hardest on gear in our whole group.
