Hello
With the recent heavy wet snow my blower (woods 6215 mower with grasshopper blower) was useless as it clogged no matter what I did. I got out the L5740 Kubota and made short work of it.
I dislike using the tractor cause I always leave scrap marks on the blacktop coating. What have others done to prevent this? Thinking of maybe a hardwood edge attached to my bucket?

Almost anything attached to the bucket will prevent marks on your driveway. Usually, the issue is how it gets attached and if you have to drill through bucket. There's a sticky thread at the top of this forum of a commercial solution and there are plenty of threads about other solutions, from wooden planks to plastic pipe.

I just use the blower or bucket edges in contact with the blacktop. Marks don't bother me.

How about a thick rubber blade in place of your cutting edge

Piece of conveyor belt bolted to the edge works great. You can find it at Tractor Supply or if you know anyone at an old mine or manufactureing facility you maybe able to get a piece from an old belt they are pitching out.

I seen somewhere on the internet they had a hard plastic that attached to the buckets cutting edge. It was yellow with like 5 screw bolts the stuck up.

Here is what I use. It came off a county highways plow.

I bought a 3/4" X 6" X 48" rubber piece from Rubber Cal over 5 years ago. Finally wore it down this year. I just bolted it through the holes in the original wear blade of my Land Pride RB 1560 with longer bolts. Cheap.

Do this SNOWBLOWER IMPELLER KIT and the snow blower will not clog. You can use the same Belting that CODE54 mentioned. THIS works

I have two methods.

1. Last year I only had the rear back blade. I stuck a high density poly urethane strip on the back and dragged the snow. It works pretty well. Absolutely no scrap marks. Only problem with this setup, and its has nothing to do with the plastic blade, is that when there is a large amount of snow it bogs the tractor down (BX2670) so multiple passes are needed.

Also.. there were a couple of times when it didn't get right down to the pavement, perhaps 1-2mm left.

2. Now this year I purchased a snow edge. Darn expensive piece of kit for what you get IMO.
Has the same type of blade that attaches to the front as the rear.

Benefit is that I can push the snow and drag at the same time.

AGAIN.. absolutely no scrapes / scratches on the pavement. There is a video on here that you can look at to watch it in action.

Problem for me is that there is a bit of spill when the bucket gets full (BX 2670) and I turn a corner on the driveway. The rear blade does not catch it all.

However.. my solution is to do two quick passes.

Hope that helps out.

I too use the. Snow edge, and agree its expensive, but worth it in my opinion. Got my asphalt (new) down bare before we went into the deep freeze this am. I take more than a few passes, but i like to play. Only gripe is it is shorter than my bucket, i want one that is wider.
