We drove up to WinStar casino yesterday afternoon for a little entertainment. I started out losing and my luck changed. My wife started out winning, and then her luck changed. She was about $80 ahead early and didn't want to stop because we hadn't been there very long. I lost almost $60 in the beginning and then came back. At one point I was up by about $150, but it was an hour until dinnertime and we kept playing. In the end, I won enough to cover my wife's losses and pay for our dinner and gas for the car. The Fireside Buffet in WinStar has changed and their selections are not all that great while the price is high at $18.95. We each had $2 discounts. If I had it to do again, I would have come back across the Red River to Gainesville and eaten at Cracker Barrel or Applebee's. Right at Exit 1 in OK, they have a fireworks stand already up for the 4th of July. It was fun to get away from the house, yard, and garden for a few hours.:)

I'm sure, with so many casinos in the country now, that Las Vegas is not nearly as good as it used to be. In the Fall of 1991, we stayed at the RV park at Sam's Town in Vegas for $6.50 a night, ate at as fine a buffet as I've ever seen, and it cost $13.79 for both of us; not each. And one morning we went to Circus Circus and had the biggest breakfast buffet I've seen, and it cost $4.87 combined for both of us.

Incidentally, Gainesville has a pretty good Chinese Buffet, and quite reasonably priced, about a mile east of I-35 on U.S. 82.

Are you talking about the one near Walmart and across from Home Depot? I've eaten there a couple of times. I think it's the China King Buffet. I go by there every time I go to visit my brother in Whitesboro, a few more miles east of Gainesville toward Sherman.

Yep, that's the one, Jim. Before that one opened, we ate a couple of times and one around the corner on Grand just south of 82. It was smaller and less variety, but cheap and not bad eating at all.

Since May 10th, we've had less than 0.7" of an inch of rain. :(

I'm keeping the garden alive by watering, but it's not thriving. Saw on the news that they are expecting drought from central thru west Texas and almost the whole panhandle from now till September.

2 of my tomato plants are have severe blossom end rot. I finally picked my first decent tomatoes today. 4 of them. The cherry and jelly bean tomato plants are looking good but need to ripen.

Good grief it's HOT!...I worked for about 15 minutes (at 3:30 pm) out in the sun on my septic field. Yes, I'm a dummy. I was about 1/2 drenched when done. I picked the summer solstice during the heat of the day...did I say dummy? Add stupid to that too. But glad it's done.

Kyle, I'd bet I've tossed over 50 tomatoes with BER. Luckily, that's a drop in the bucket of what is on the vines. The vines with the most BER are the super fantastic followed by the Bush Big Boy and better boys. I've had just a couple of BER fruits on my early girls and none on my determinate BHN 602 hybrids. I just picked 10 huge tomatoes this morning that were all over 10 oz. The biggest two were Bush big boys at 12.4 and 12.8 oz. I also picked 5 lb of super sweet and sweet 100 cherry tomatoes and a pound of yellow pear cherries. Between the rain and my soaker tapes, I'm keeping them happy. I just added 40% shade cloth above them and the jury is still out on whether that's going to be good or bad. Our recent rains have been a godsend and I feel very lucky. However, all I have to do is stand still and breath to sweat down my clothes after 10:30 AM. I don't have to do a lick of work to be soaked in sweat.
