Well, nobody has to look any further than WinStar to see that it's a money making enterprise. That place is turning into a megloplex of all kinds of activities. They even have an indoor bull riding arena (my bet is always on the bull ). We are going up there tomorrow for a little fun and dinner at their buffet. I surely do wish that instead I could go watch the ponies at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie and do some slots too. If nothing else, at least that revenue would keep a lot of locals employed. It would also increase the draw for the horse races. Maybe some across-the-state-line competition would be good for the casinos. Perhaps they'd change the payout percentage and create more winners. As it is, there is no incentive to payout more. WinStar has no competition and they are cleaning up from all those people with Texas plates in their parking lot, most of which are seniors. Here's an idea. Maybe the Texas casinos could be non-smoking and let all the smokers go to WinStar.

Jim, I remember when that place looked like a "revival" tent!! Now it's the biggest thing all the way to OKC!!!

I smoke Jim, but I hear ya, I am a week from trying the electronic stuff, I have had about enough and have pushed my luck way too long. Funny how something comes along and jerks you into reality and adds the incentive:thumbsup:

EDIT: Fellas (and girls ) It is hot and Humid today, at least for me. I have been outside the last hour and am totaly soaked, AFTER I showered!

There's not only all those cars in the parking lot, but it appears that Winstar has their own busses because I see white busses with Winstar's name on them on I-35E quite frequently. I went inside Winstar just for a few minutes to look around when it was that one tent you mentioned, Dennis. Haven't seen any reason to go back since, although a daughter and grandson have taken my wife and her sister up there a couple of times when my wife's sister was here visiting from West Virginia. Of course, each time, they left here in the evening shortly before I went to bed, and I didn't even know when they got back.

Dennis, I smoked a pipe for 5 years and cigarettes for 42 years and the 11th of next month will be 7 years since I quit. And the incentive . . . they priced me out of the market. My wife quit a year later. I didn't quit for health reasons, but the house and car do stay cleaner since we quit. But since the non-smokers thought they could balance the states' budgets with taxes on smokers, I figured I wouldn't help them do it.

Bird, 42 years and quit! your my new hero:thumbsup: :salute::applause:

Those legislature, do most of their brainstorming over a bottle too I bet! so you know they wont tax that "sin" I have also been lucky, I dont wake up coughing and hacking and I enjoy it. Hard for a non-smoker to understand, either way it's a bad habit though.

Just wait until they put a hefty tax on water "hose arrays"!! there will be some scream'n on the northern Wise Co. line!!!!!!!!!!:D

Mike, I see some promise with the E cigs, Still nicotine, but without all the other poison. !st mistake people make I have learned is just trying the little cig looking ones in the convenience store. Here is a great site, that has helped me immensely.
The folks there are a super bunch of people too.

I smoked for 30 years and quit in 1998. I don't mind the occasional smell of smoke, but inside these big casinos, there is no place to get away from it. It seems to permeate everything. If they had a non-smoking section, I'd be okay with it, but the new WinStar is wide open inside where you feel like you are walking from country to country. The one constant throughout is the stale smell of smoke. To make it worse, you find a machine you like and somebody comes along and sits beside you while puffing away. . . payback I guess. I think it's all really still a tent with just a facade around the outside to make it look like a building. Of course, the new hotels and shopping areas around the casino are real buildings.

EDIT: We're getting a downpour at the moment; came out of nowhere.

How'd you 3 (Jim,Mike, Bird) deal with it after words?? The new ecigs help, by delivering the nicotine, but honestly I want use that until I break the habit. They call it "vaping" and I dont want to become a "vapor", but that is better than a cigarette.
