I'm planting okra today for the LAST TIME this year. I want to get it into the ground just in case the weather guessers didn't lie and we will get some rain tonight. It's pretty bad when the guys at the feed-n-seed store greet you with, "Need some more okra seed, sir?":ashamed:

I started the day, yesterday, by mowing my grass. I have to say my lawn looks great thanks to a lot of watering already this year. After using my weed popper and hauling out four 5-gal buckets of popped weeds, I didn't feel like I was just spreading weed seeds while mowing. We bought some armadillo repellent and sprayed three flowerbeds that seem to attract the critters. They've dug up and broken some petunias pretty badly. If this doesn't work, I may put a fence charger wire around the border so the little pests know I mean business. I have a brand new fence charger still in the box that I'd love for them to test for me.

Farmgirl, your 100% right, even Merlin the magician would have had trouble this Spring.

Jim, I bet you weren't the only guy in the feed store on the "1st trip", if had not over bought , I would have been back too.

We had Armadillo trouble the 1st year here, .22 took care of it for me. They can do allot of damage in a nice watered area. Now that I dont have Horses in the back, I dont usually mess the the ones back there. Took me over a month to get 3 since they where random during the night.

I have been battling Moles, they have gone down every row in the garden, all the flowerbeds and in the Blackberries. It is "WAR" here now:laughing: Have a couple of traps out and more on the way. Anywhere there is moisture, I have moles.

Jim,
Is it normal for geese to let a cat get so close?

Dennis,
I need to bring Booger up there. He has dug up and caught moles before. If it smells and moves, he can catch it, if it doesn't fly off. Well, if it can't fly good, he can catch it also. He had the high ground on an injured hawk that had flying problems.
hugs, Brandi

 Load his butt up and bring him on!!! If the moles "fly" I will be ready with the 12g.:D

I actually caught one mole this morning in my "out O sight" trap, right in the 1st row in the garden:dance1:

I fought with them last year. I had some lovely tomatos plants that would get taken completely underground overnight. All that was left was the hole they went down. So far, not an issue, this year. ::::knock wood::::

Geese are very good at taking care of themselves! Same with turkeys. I don't think a cat bothers them, and if it does, they will persue it!

Hmmmm, I was wondering where they came from:laughing: Your damage sounds more like a wood chuck or similar I've never had a mole to kill a plant other than digging so the roots dry out, they are a PITA for sure. The one I caught this morning was only about 4 1/2"

Here is a (crappy) cell picture of the 1st victom

Booger says he doesn't like long road:steeringwheel: trips. He wants to know if you can bring the moles down here so he can have a fresh supply to ferret out. Speaking of ferrets.:ferret: Bet my male ferret:superman: would bring up moles for you. At least what is left after chowing down on the mole. But he is an inside ferret.:mur:

I had ferrets when I was younger and they'd probably would do it! Last time I saw a wild ferret was in 1993, they where running around the dam rocks at lake Proctor in Comanche county. Dont know where they came from, but everyone out fishing that year where talking about it.
