We didn't seem to get much here in the city of Tyler, but it sure looked like we got a nice shot of it to the NW where our ranch land is located. Nothing substantial, but enough to naturally water the garden for the day! :thumbsup:

Just enough moisture last night to keep me from painting, YEAH!!! It was nasty out last night.
I got to build me a smoker. Have a 250 gallon propane tank that was here when we bought the place, been thinking about using it, but just cant bring myself to cut it
I can buy 4' of "smoker pipe" 24" for around $125 not bad when you figure in all the fun later>>
GArden seemed to have survived, even the few Okras breaking through look OK.

GArden seemed to have survived, even the few Okras breaking through look OK.
You can fill it full of water or sand. Some welders won't even touch it filled, stating the pores of steel still hold enough gas to make a boom. New pipe sounds better and safer to me.

Yeah, the plan is water, after one good rinse with dish liquid. Cut pipe would be easier actually, more time building too. Dont think that I want one as big as the tank either, but I have it.
Bird, most of the sprayers we use are either Graco 3900 and 5900's airless sprayers. Totally a commercial set up since that is what we do. We used to test pumps for Graco since we paint to much, have also done allot of test paints for Sherwin Williams and Valspar.

Dennis, the reason I was curious is that I did just a tiny bit of that kind of work back in 1989. I have a cousin who started on the police department about 3 months before I did, but he just put in his 20 years and left to go into the striping business full time. I'm not sure how long he'd been doing it part time. Then he bought a street sweeping truck and swept parking lots at night. When I first retired and my wife was still working, I helped him on a couple of striping jobs. I think he did nearly all of his in the daytime; a lot of it on Saturdays and Sundays when businesses were closed. But he never had one of the riding machines.:laughing:

Dennis, last night had to be a good night for painting because it was so still out. I'm looking at the trees in my yard this morning and don't see a leaf moving. It's cool this morning (42 F), but so still it feels comfortable.
I replaced the fuel hoses on my little 2-cycle cultivator yesterday. It had been running erratically for awhile. I need it to keep my garden cultivated and weed free, so I got it going yesterday and gave it a try. It worked perfectly. Today, I'll finish cultivating and weeding. The nutgrass will come back, but the tiller keeps it trimmed. Maybe I can't kill it, but I'll 'punish' it pretty badly for coming up in my garden.
I've decided to wait until the first week in May to do my replanting of blackeyes and okra. I've planted okra twice and can't get more than a few seedlings to pop up. The soil just is not warm enough. I know it's not the soil because right beside the okra I planted a row of sweet peas and they came up so well that I had to go in and thin them this last week. My brother has always told me that I planted okra too early. This year, he is surely right.
Last night I had 13 does at my feeder. At first, two does came up and started eating corn. I was looking at them when I saw a whole line of deer walking across my new dam to the feeder. The deer just kept coming and I counted eight deer. They walked up to the feeder, but the first two does were not having any interlopers. They chased away any other deer that got close to the feeder. Finally, the group of eight decided they had enough confrontation and trotted off into my valley. Just then, I looked up and three more deer came walking across the dam and up to the feeder. They were a little bigger and the first two does let them eat for about 30 seconds before going on the offensive. They ran the three off and then stayed to clean up the corn. It was fun watching how defensive they were.
This morning, my grandson noticed the plastic cover was off the timer and battery compartment on the bottom of the feeder. RACCOONS! Those pesky little 'coons have learned how to turn that cover so it drops off. I hope they didn't chew on the timer or battery. Maybe it's time for me to set a trap near the feeder. These 'coons are poopin' on my deck, cutting holes in my garden deer fence, stealing my deer corn, and messin' with my timer. I think it's time to trap and relocate.

JIM, Weather was great last night, but I was off anyhoo:laughing: I usually spray at 2200-2400 PSI about 6" from the ground, so 25mph wind is harder on us then the paint. Have you tried pr-soaking the okra seed in timed water? That will speed you back up when you re-plant.

My old boss and his family have ran one of the German vendor kitchens at Muenster for quite a few years. He was telling me it was a really big deal and that they cooked plenty of sausage and sauerkraut. Don't like sauerkraut and so I never learned to spell it properly either. LOL
Another fun event this weekend is the Texas Fiddler Frolics in Halletsville Texas. Have a buddy who is being inducted into the State Fiddler's Championship Hall of Fame this year. He is usually the emcee too. There will be a sausage and BBQ cookoff too.

Kyle, my wife and our daughter don't like sauerkraut, but our son-in-law and I certainly had some fine sausage and kraut 2 years ago. Great eating and goes well with Shiner beer, too.:laughing:
My parents said when we lived in Baltimore when I as a baby, anytime you ordered a hot dog anywhere, they asked you "with or without kraut". I've never seen that anywhere in this part of the country, but I still like hot dogs with chili and sauerkraut.

LOL Bird, I think the list of food that doesn't go with Shiner Bock would be pretty short.
I kind of did a taste taste to my buddies from Wisconsin. Actually I bought about 3 or 4 brands of beer and the Shiner Bock was the one they kept going back to for another round. I just wanted to see what they preferred if given a choice and left up to them.
