Anyone got any thoughts on my plans go for it

At work today I got a GOOD used titan 3" trash pump that they were going to trash because they did not feel it was worth shipping to the other office (long story but it was free to me)

It pumps 18,000 GPM

The beach front at my lake is loaded with muck I had been thinking of renting an excavator but now I am thinking I can attach the intake hose of this pump to my pressure cleaner and using the pressure cleaner as a cutting and stir up tool as I pump the mud and such out and then let it dry to be cleaned up with my tractor

I think that is a great idea...I tried to think why it would not work and the only thing I can think of is...there are different types of pumps...I have one that is for pumping water...I use it to irrigate pumping water from our lake...but then there are trash pumps and they are for pumping semi solids...so you could give it a try and see if your pressure washer will break the muck up enough for your pump to handle...why not ?

Better check with your department of whatever that oversees lakes before you do anything like you are planning. Big, big fines.

Talked to the city already I can clean 50' of beach with no permits

I have a pump and time I need to rent a excavator and would risk sinking it

Thats what I was thinking! Thats a pertty good size pump!

18000 gallons per min. how many Hp are you going to put behind it? :laughing: That is a big pump.

OK somethings wrong here. 18,000 gallons a minute is about as much as a typical swimming pool.

So this pump will drain a swimming pool in one minute.....?

I suspect the OP meant 18,000 gpH like the IPT by Gorman-Rupp Heavy-Duty Trash Pump — 3in. Ports, 18,000 GPH, 1 1/4in. Solids Capacity, 206cc Briggs & Stratton Intek Pro Engine, Model# 3S5AR at Northern tools http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_793_793

The 18,000 GPM units had a pipe of about 18".

Yeah... that is 18.000gpH for sure. I have a similar one (different brand) I use to pump my pond with. Takes about 2.5hrs to do. No sweat.

I would not want to even be near a 18,000 GPm pump

yep it will only move very fine silt and too much of it things start to plug up
but it works it was free I will use it to flood/water the yard or something

I bet it could work though... EASY

You just need another pump of nearly the same volume to supply the water to suck up. :laughing:

And copious amounts of time and fuel. Perhaps a life jacket too.
