Bio Stat Diesel Algae Inhibitor?

I just used the last of my REDLINE BioStat algae killer and learned it was discontinued 5 or 6 years ago...

My bottle goes back to the 80's when algae was a real problem with Diesel cars here in my area.

It takes me about a year to go through a tank of fuel in the D3

Does anyone used "Biobor JF - Diesel Fuel Microbicide"?

Is a algae still a problem in 2011?

I've sworn off bio entirelky because of the slime and resultant expense. I've been using PowerService BioKleen. Good stuff and of course a strong bio-cide.

I usually run Caterpillar engine additive in ULSD.

Algae and bacteria in diesel are generally a problems in warm humid climates and the Puget Sound area is one of those places. The critters live at the fuel/water interface and feed off the fuel, leaving a snotty looking mess that clogs filters. Keeping your fuel tank near full can reduce the water condensation that the critters need, but you probably should treat all your fuel with an additive that contains a biocide since you'v experienced the problem before. google on diesel biocide and you should e able to find a bunch of products.
