Tractor
kubota bx24
I've got about 3 acres that was cleared (over the last three years) via Bobcat brush hog, large 4200 Kubota and my little bx24. Lots of smally trees, blackberrys, young alders, etc. Not the hardest to clear but not something you could have done with a DR walk behind.

YesterdayI found this and wondered if it could have come off my rig. Its 4" in diameter and about a 1/2" in thickness. The center hole is about 1 1/2". It's basically a very strong magnet. Looks like it was glued to something, perhaps it was part of pickup for rpms? The size of the hole makes me think it was not off of my tractor (seems too big).

Any thoughts?

Looks like a speaker magnet to me. Typical size something like a Bose 901 would use.

They use a magnet like that inside automatic transmission in the sump pan to pick up metal debris from the fluid.

Wow I wonder if I could use this a cheap mag filling pickup on my tractor's drain plug? I was concerned that it came off my rig. Earlier this year I ran a stick into my HST fan.

I had a British car once that had a throw out rock (graphite ring) for the clutch instead of a bearing - I wouldn't have checked for magnetism. Look a lot like this!

Most likely it's from the warp drive of an extraterrestrial spaceship.

I guess it's probably safe to assume it's nothing off my tractor right?

The last time I threw something away I found in the field it cost me $5. It was the center emblem for my steering wheel. Mine didn't have the K in the center, just a decoration. I didn't recognize what it was until I took the tractor out about a week later. Think I'll just keep this around just in case. Really pissed me off to have to sepnd $5 for a pice of plastic. **** it was half the cost of my HST fan. I don't know if I got took at my dealer but my butt still hurts.

Looks like a speaker magnet to me. It was probbaly used with a string through the center to find something metal until it broke and fell off of the string.

I use speaker magnets on the bottom of my engine oil and hydraulic filters, just in case of unexpected metal objects floating around. You could be surprised what is caught on those filters?

Also could be a magnet from a magnatron... a microwave oven electron tube. I collected those for a while, quite useful.

Oh my god yes! I am happy I wasn't the only one to immediately think a magnatron too!

Also looks like the kind of magnet used in the base of a magnet-mount CB antenna.

What forced you to buy it?
