Chris

Nice. that's one thing I like about my f250.. 3.73 rear end gets you up there fast...

Yea, in my short drive of my fathers yesterday I was really impressed with the layout of the drivers station, especially the location of the gauges, simple use, and all the controls for things like the 4x4 and locker, radio, hvac, ect.

The dash was simply the best I have seen. I drive 2-3 rental cars per week, sometimes more so I have driven just about everything. It really laid out nice. I wish they would put this interior and dash in the Super Duty line. I had a chance to drive a 2011 F-250 Diesel the other day and just did not care for it nearly as well as this F-150 or my 06 F-350.

Looked at a few 11 350's and some models have been cheapened up a bit interior-wise. Forget what the split front seat is called that can fold down or be used as a 3rd seat, but it's cheap and doesn't belong as an option IMHO.

They also got rid of the fold out metal platform that used to be under seats in quad cabs, replaced it with cheap plastic trays. Some may like it but looks pretty cheesy to me. I've always liked being able to fold up the seats and have a sturdy flat surface to put stuff. Nice place for tools etc.

ditto that on the metal bracket..

I do not own one or have ever driven one.... but I DO know what it takes to spin a turbo... exhaust pressure... !! You generate exhaust pressure by burning fuel...
The eco-boost should get good fuel efficiency numbers under most conditions, but to sustain boost for pulling, you must burn more fuel...
Personally, I would not want it... Ford has had more than their fair share of of cylinder head, intake gasket, head gasket issues... and their new 6.7L diesel is starting to show its true colors...

I'll admit to knowing this much " " about the 6.7

what issues are coming out?

we bought 10 of them at work, nine have blown up with under 40K miles... several turbo failures, a trans. failure. Several other local companies had followed our lead and purchased several trucks... They have started experiencing similar failures..
Friends of ours purchased a 2012, its current home is the Ford dealership awaiting a new turbocharger (less than 5000 miles)
He is hoping that the turbo was defective since day one, since the fuel mileage has been terrible when pulling.

My wife got a new Explorer a few months back. In the process of shopping we drove just about every seven passenger crossover on the market from a Honda to a Volvo and none had as nice an interior as the Explorer. The funny thing is the interior of my f150 is nicer than and more comfortable than the Explorer.

We have a bunch of '11 F150 5.0L and they are averaging about 20 miles/us gallon. 3 different cousins bought the turbo V6 and the first couple thousand miles were about the same and then it jumped and they are all getting around 26 miles/us gallon.
The 5.0 liter is an awesome engine. So smooth Running and pulls amazing compared to the older 5.4. I only drove the turbo 6 once so I can't say but they love it.

Curious, what gears and are they 4x4 or 2 wheel drive?

When I drove my dads on Wed with the cruise set at about 60ish for 9 miles it was getting right at 26mpg. That was with the 3.5L Twin Turbo 4x4 3.73 gears.

how do they handle oil cool down in the turbos when you shut it off?

Granted you dont here a lot about turbo fires for diesels these days but they were all but common back in the early 90's for some turbo (gas) cars.

The hot oil roasted (gas) turbo bearings in 3-5 years. im unconvinced they have solved this issue to extend turbo life to something reasonable. (course we wont know for shure if it will haunt the Ford V6 for another 3-5 years) I dont have much faith.

Although Subaru seems to have overcome the issues but i dont exactly put Subaru H4 engines with turbos and ford V6 engines in the same category.

perhaps in 5-8 years ill pick one up, or on the other hand there will be a strong aftermarket community out there supporting rebuilds much like there is for the 6.0 PS.

i always let my engines idle for a minute or so before shutting down.

I am unsure of the gearing as they are work trucks. All are 4 wheel drive. You would have to special order a 2 wheel drive in Alberta. Nobody stocks them.

The easiest way to solve that issue when dealing with the general un-informed public is to run a water cooled cartridge.... The engine coolant will not see much over 220 degrees... so it helps keep the shaft temps in check..

My Dodge Conquest turbo failed years ago, and when they replaced it, they put in water cooled. I think my Subaru is water cooled too. I look for water cooled in a turbo, since if need it to last, and buy used mostly. But, where possible, I avoid turbos altogether.
