Just understand that what ever size tank you get you will need to fill it all the way. So don't think about getting a 1000 gallon tank and only putting 800 gallons in it for now until you get a bigger truck.

I hauled a lot of water in the back of a Dodge 1/2 ton to fill my swimming pool. I can't remember if it was a 250 or 300 gallon tank. At first I wasn't filling it all the way, but got tired of making trips so I filled it all the way after a while. It was overloaded but it was a paved road and I took it easy. The sloshing affect wasn't that bad in that small of a tank, but I can see where it would be in a larger one.
Is it an option to haul water in the back of your truck? You can't haul a lot, but if you hauled every couple of days, I wouldn't think it would be to bad.
It seems to me you need to form a rural water resources board and make yourself president. Can you lay pipeline in your spare time.

I picked up a Duece and a half, Blazer M1009, and 2 Cargo Trailers and now looking for a water tank trailer. You pick them up right at the military Base where they are stored.
That is a pretty looking trailer.X2 on the pintle hitch. The trailer will tow much better with the ball setup. I have a PJ F8 and love it. I would recommend getting atleast a 20'er though because you need more length at times to balance the weight out. Mine is 20' and I wish it was 24'. If I could do it all over Id get a 24'er with monster ramps to make loading easier but still have a flat deck.
I'm doing a little math in my head and a 1000 gallons of water will weigh a little over 8000 lbs. I'm not sure how much an imperial gallon is, but I thought it was a little more than a U.S. gallon. If you have a 7000 lb trailer, that's 7000 lbs including the weight of the trailer. This puts you over weight by about 2500 lbs. If you aren't going very far over smooth road, you might be O.K.
The trailer I am looking at buying has a 14,000 lb rating. One imperial gallon of water weighs exactly ten pounds. Yesterday I had the 500 gallon tank on a 7000 lb car hauler trailer. I pulled it over my dads truck scales and the trailer axle pair had 7062 lbs on them.

Hi all. I am thinking about hauling my own water to my home instead of paying for deliver and was looking for input onto my different options.
Just curious...Will you have any issues with the water sloshing around in the tank? I know tanker trucks have baffles in them to reduce this effect otherwise the tow vehicle can get pushed around by the liquid moving.
