ditto that...........also makes a nice carry all............

Is that 6'? What's your outside wheel base measurement? Do you think it's wide enough or would you like a few more inches on each side? I'm starting to get serious about building one. I'm just going to buy the rippers and the cutting edges. I need to make a choice between ordering 6' or 7' harden steel cutting edges. I don't really want one 7' wide but I could cut a 7' blade down to 6'4" if it would really make a difference.

We went box due to dirt work and gravel parking lot upkeep. Snow removable (not often required) is the only time I wish for something that will angle.

6'. Completely covers the tread width on our MX. Would not want a 7'.

Tom, just to clarify.....

The title of this thread is BOX BLADE OR REAR BLADE

:confused2:

Yes, you are quite right sir. The OP asked whether a box blade or a rear blade would be better for grading a 2 mile long road. I wonder whether you have read the thread or not? The entire thread has been full of discussion that neither a box blade nor a rear blade is the best implement for grading 2 miles of road with a utility tractor, and that a land plane grader is far more suited to the task. So, sir, I would respectfully ask, have you read the entire thread? If not, I would recommend reading the thread before making such a comment. It sounds like you are trying to say, "Hey, the title only mentions box blades and rear blades, therefore you are not allowed to mention a grader." If you have already read the thread, then I am not sure why you would make such a comment this deep into the discussion. I invite you to elaborate.

Yes sir, I have read every post in the entire thread. I try not to post unless I have done so.
As I stated the question was bb, or rb. You keep harping on the fact that a planer box is better for road building/maintence. Any one with any tractor equipment knowledge already knows this.
Not all people can afford or wants to have 3 peices of equipment, but you do not seem to get that fact.
I started to go back through the thread to see how many times you tried to sell the planer box, but I got bored counting

LOL! I am not selling anything. I do get the fact that not everyone wants or can afford 3 pieces of equipment, but the OP has not stated that is the case. As far as I know, there are no rules against making alternate suggestions. You can be upset about it if you want to; that's your choice.

Until about a year ago I really didn't know much about grading scrapers. I just assumed that a box blade is what I needed. Everyone I know around me with a tractor said box blades are great. Now when someone asks a question like this I bring up the grader just to make sure the person asking knows about them before investing their hard earned money. After all how many times does a guy come on here and post a question like "I need a 25hp" only to find out his plans include brush hogging 10 acres a week only to be offer some good advise that he wasn't looking for.
