What do you all think of this truck to pull my mowers around?

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD for sale at Baum Chevrolet Buick Clinton IL - 1GCHK23U65F962458

I talked them down some on the price. It is a nice looking truck. I drove it tonight.

Nice truck...I'm sure that it will tow fine. My 04 1/2 ton 5.3 did a good job pulling my BX23 and RTV1100. Guess what you mean by mowers:confused: An M series Kubota could be called a mower:D

That price seems pretty heavy to me. Although, my 04 GMC is sitting on the lot where I traded it at 15K with 91K on it. Maybe that's the used market now. Depends on how much you were able to talk them down.

All the trucks around here are high right now. KBB shows this is a good deal.

While I am not a GM man it would work fine for that type of load. According to my book it has a 9,600# tow rating and only came with 4.10 gears that year if powered by the 6.0L.

2 concerns.

1st is the length? Can you park it and maneuver it at your jobs with a trailer. Thats a long truck.

2nd is the MPG? You can expect 10 mpg or less pulling a trailer. I know quite a few guys with 6.0L's and they get about 14mpg on the road and 12 around town with the 3.73's but about 2 mpg less with the 4.10's

Now on price. I see 2 year old 1/2 tons that would do what you need for about that money for $23,000 or less with 35,000 miles or less each and every day here. Your area may have different prices.

I agree that price is high, I've seen the newer style GM's for that price.

If it has the Allison transmission then it certainly is a decent package with that 6.0l (300hp/360lb.ft) but I wouldn't pay over $16.5k for it. I think the Allison was a 5-speed in 2005 and 6-speed in 2006-07. How much are you looking to tow?

Yes it is a long truck. Same setup my Dmax was. I kinda need the 4 door with 2 kids and wife. Also I sometimes need to haul adults with me and we are all good sized people. Otherwise I would be looking for a Ext cab but we like the legroom. I could also use this as a backup in an emergency to move my GN if it doesnt sell.

Does anybody know if I can add the GM cab roof lights and where do I get them?

You should be able to add them but you'll probably have to splice in the wires. Not a big deal though. Regardless, you'll probably have to drop the headliner down along with the A pillar covers.

Most truck sites have these kits...Might even be able to get set from the GM counter.

They only put the Allison behind the Dmax and the 8.1L. The 6.0 has not had it to this point as far as I know.

I agree this is not an Allison. Only Dmax and 8.1 have them
