I guess I don't understand the won't shop at WM because of their "firearms policy". My gas stations don't sell firearms, my Kroger store doesn't sell firearms, would you not shop there either?

Heck if everything I do had to make sense, I would never leave the house. It's my money and my choice; I am not trying to recruit anyone.

Me, neither. In fact, I'm glad there are folks who do not or will not shop at Walmart. If we all shopped at Walmart, they soon would actually have a monopoly and their prices would go up (actually, I mean, go up even more since they're already going up).:D

Back a little bit to the original post. What is WalMarts history/record for charitable contributions - specifically to veterans and/or CURRENT ACTIVE military folks and their families? Also I think it would be interesting to see the extent of local (where it might make the most impact) contributions. I don't know, just asking.

Here's a link to a Wal-Mart report. I didn't see a breakdown of where the contributions went, but I found this interesting:

"Wal-Mart and its U.S. Foundation have been recognized in the past by The Chronicle of Philanthropy as the largest cash contributor in the U.S., and by Forbes Magazine as the 'number-one most generous company overall.'"

I don't really know either. Recently, our local Walmart had a large open box near the entrance with a sign about "Feed the People?" I think. Anyway it was asking for donations from customers to prevent hunger, so I added a case of canned vegetables to an already large amount of stuff in the box.

Now one of the things I do not like about our nearest Walmart is that they have put a small screen extremely loud and obnoxious TV at each checkout stand. I've told the manager that I quit buying gasoline from Walmart because of their loud, obnoxious "gas station TV". Now I've normally paid no attention and have no idea what they're talking about on those TVs, but a day or two ago, at the checkout stand, I just happened to notice they were telling about Walmart's efforts to see that no one went hungry and they mentioned some huge amount of money they've put into that effort, but I don't remember how much it was.
