Sooo there I was.....backing up my trailer up a slope to onload a tractor on my property. Left the truck/trailer, went and got the tractor. When I got to the trailer, I realized I didn't have the trailer quite centered on the trail, and would move the truck/trailer to make loading easier. Let the truck move forward a few feet, and angled the trailer a bit to center it up. Started backing up, but felt like the parking brake was on.....checked....no......spinning tires with empty trailer...hmmmm? What the hel...OK....put in 4wd.....now front tires are spinning as well.....WHAT THE HEl_??/
Get out, look around and this is what I see. There are 2 oil wells on my property, connected (used to be) to each other.....I caught the open end of the STURDY pipe and it did a perfect noose job.....got it so tight backing up nothing was going anywhere. Fortunately didn't hurt anything, just drove forward to "unnoose" it.....but what's the chances...????

Scoutcub, that looks like something that I would do. I usually say, beneath my breath, "I couldn't do that if I'd tried"! Looks to me like you were trying to test your safety chains against some 2 3/8" upset tubing left over from your well.:D

I wasn't so lucky. When I got out to see why the trailer wouldn't back up further, I discovered that the door of one of my other trucks was the problem.

If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all! ;)

Right now I wish I had that good of luck..... If it had been me, that probably would have been the drive shaft wound up in the chains.:(

I was wondering if someone would snag me on that!

I never even remembered to look at the back-up camera.....the rear sensors always go off with the trailer so I shut them off.
Good catch! ;)

I wish I had that kind of luck $$$$

Well, it sounds good, but........I have to split any profits with the previous owner......I've had several "no pay" months......checks for 41 cents.....guys driving on the property any time they need to.....etc.

We'll see if it pans out in the future, supposedly I get free NG to 1 residence when I build in the future.

I knew safety chains were a bad idea.

Unburied pipes around wells bite! Wait until you hit a flow line covered by grass with a mower. You can't make the tractor move fast enough. Pucker factor of 9!!

yikes.. nat gas or propane around a diesel engine scares me.. too easy to make a runaway!

That and the thought of an exploding gas line under your mower.....
Luckily the well wasn't active. Took a day to trackdown the operator to let him know he had a 6" hole in a flow line and it would be a good idea to fix it and mark the line so it wouldn't happen again.

double yikes!!!!

Well, that was some good luck and them there are safety chains. It was good luck to discover the pipe in that way instead of it sticking through a $500 tractor tire and much safer to find the pipe that way than with the mower.

Fortunately for me, the pipes aren't hooked up at both ends, so no gas or oil in them. They are definitely becoming a menace, at least 4 separate places on the property I keep running into them doing groundwork, and they are TOUGH.....my dozer can't even bust em apart!
