I'm sure it's just me, but does anybody else have a funny mental picture of Brandi standing in her pond and bubbles coming up from around her legs?

OK, I'll stop. :laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

Eddie

Eddie,
Now that I have cleaned up all the Coca-cola I spewed:eek: on my keyboard and monitor when I read this, I can reply to your above post. How can I stand in 11.5 feet of water and have my legs showing?:confused2:
I would rather think of the photo attached.:D I gotta admit, I have thought of a photo shoot in evening gowns on the Big RED Beast.:) Years ago, after a night of dancing, I took off my thigh hi boots and put on my rubber boots. My date laughed and asked what I was doing. I said I was going to feed Otis (Booger's older brother) who was tied up while some wounds healed. Now that was a picture!;)
hugs, Brandi

Brandi - Wouldn't it be easier to feed the fish beans?

LOL

PAGUY,
With my luck lately, someone would throw in Beano.:p Besides, Booger likes sushi.:confused2: Beans would that worse.

Eddie, that's funny.:D It's about as funny as my mental picture of you, sitting in the middle of your lake in a row boat with no gun and the shoreline lined with hogs. I swear, I've never seen another place with as many hogs as you have.

Jim,
Funny, I can't see the connection.:confused2::confused: A pond lined with hogs and no gun sounds like something out of a nightmare.:laughing::laughing:

FYI........I will be having shoulder surgery (I hope) next week. Nothing major, just go in and clean up the area and trim my clavicle. I hurt it back in March.

Strange thing happened yesterday. I decided to throw the fathead minnows and mosquito fish a handful of catfish food. Imagine my surprise when I saw some blueish grey fins swim up to take a bite or two. Three small Blue catfish. I confirmed it today with another handful of food. Three cats about 5-6 inches long. I am totally amazed by this..........and very happy.:D

Yes it is. I also see now a 4 inch perch making a nest. I guess it will go into hiding when the new cats arrive on the 21st.

Okay, official Blue catfish count stands at four survivors. Luke confirmed that number on two different days. Today I went down to Danbury Fish Farms and picked up 13 Blue and 12 Channel Catfish 6-8 inches long. Well, I do think I was given (in a plastic bag filled with oxygen and in a transport box all taped up all nice and pretty).........................25 Channel Catfish. Yep, I asked the guy that put them in the truck if they were 13 Blue's and 12 Channel and he said, "Yes".

Luke and Terry helped me get them in the pond. Later, Luke ran airhoses out to the pond from the barn and we dropped the homemade:thumbsup: air diffuser tywrapped to a stone laden bucket down to the bottom. I bought a low pressure regulator to cut the air pressure down to about 5 PSI, but the needle now sits on about 0 or 1 psi. I set the pressure by trial and error by watching the bubbles. The 60 gallon tank on the air compressor takes about an hour before the compressor motor kicks on.

As the photos show the bubbles really move the water. I like the last photo best.:)
hugs, Brandi

The pond looks great; no moss no mas.:D

Thanks Jim!:) I saw something green and "chunky" floating last night, but I couldn't find it today.:( Looked like the green grass stuff you scrap off the bottom of your lawnmower.

Is the possibility of oil mist contamination in the air from the compressor going to be a problem?

I don't know what kind of compressor Brandi has, but my latest one is oil less. It uses a vibrating plate, not a piston to compress air. There is no oil anywhere to get in the air.

Hawkeye08,
My compressor is a 60 gallon 240 volt Campbell Hausfeld. It is brand new. Do you think it is putting enough oil in 250 feet of airhose to hurt the fish?

Does it have motor separate that has a belt driving a pulley on the compressor? I think that may be one that does have pistons and there would be some oil, more as it gets older. I doubt that if it is relatively new that there is a significant amount. You can get oil and water separators that remove the oil and water from the air (folks that paint cars need clean air, any oil or water in their compressed air would ruin the paint job).

I doubt that you need one, but if you see any oil film around the bubbles, it may be some oil in your air....

You just put them on the output of the compressor before it goes to the pond.
