First off keep the chain low when towing anything. If it gets up over the rear axle it she can and will eventually come over on her back.

Now as for the front weight you can make a simple one by building a box and filling it with concrete. Set J-bolts like that are used to anchor framing in a home to the slab. Cheap simple solution. Just set the bolt spacing to accept holes in the front grill guard.

I used a chain to hang two weights from my old garden tractor rear tires off of the grill guard. Then 8N tends to be light in the front end and with any weight hanging off the back it will make it hard to get it to go in the direction you want.

When I first got mine I put a front plow on it and that put so much weight on the front end that I couldn't get any traction until I put about 300lbs of weight on the back.

I built a steel battery box and mounted it up front easy to service the battery

If it were mine, I'd build a seat on the front for my sister in law to sit on....no way the front ends getting light that way. She'd enjoy it, not only would it offer her another opportunity to control something, she could growl directions, sarcastic advice and tell you very personal stories about all things nauseating. She's a real delight!

Can I borrow her for my Kubota front weight? Would you consider this a front mounted wench?

hang the 75# repro bumper on it that TSC sells, then bolt a weight box to it, populate it with suitcase weights ( $$$ ).. or get some yard sale barbell weights and threaded rod, nuts and big washers and add the weight.

Now that is a good one. My wife was walking by and I told her. Here read this. She just walked out shaking her head and laughing also. We have a sister inlaw we would be glad to get a ticket for if possible.Could you let us know how to sign her up. Make sure there is not a weight limit, that may be a big problem :D

If you read the post I think you got 4 quite serious answers. We can't help it if you didn't like them.

It been about 50 years since I've been on an 8n, but if I remember correctly the 8n has a couple of factory bolt points that you can use for a front bumper/grill guard. Use these point to attach a homemade suitcase weight bracket or built a box and fill it with lead or concrete. 200-300 pounds should work but much more will make steering difficult.

A snowplow's headgear is pretty heavy in itself, plus offers lots of places and ways to hang weights from...That is, if you already have, or have access to the main frame to hold it all up.

You will find that much over 100 lbs and you will have trouble steering the 8N with no PS.

Did you even -bother- to read the original poster's question? He has excess weight on the 3pt from towing logs and thus has a front end pointing at the sky... that's why he wanted front weight.

this kind of thing can be real confusing for the original poster as your comment of adding weight will make it hard to steer doesn't even come close to applying here... :( Please take some time to read the original post before making a comment like this...

Have you thought about using front wheel weights? Rather than suitcase weights or the like? Maybe even adding rim guard to the front wheels would help...

The OP has already stated, in the first message, that he has loaded tires... loaded with what, we don't know.. however.. even with plain water, given the limited volume of the tires.. reloading with rimguard won't buy him much weight gain.

So what does he do when the logs ain't back there??:D

He needs a loader bucket that can be filled with disposable weight in his situation!:D

But then again he's not supposed to be towing from the three point is he.

Wasn't there a thread about an accident a little while ago when a fellow towed from the three point?
