I make it a habit to look at Craig's List whenever I can. I've found some really good deals there. There are also some good laughs. I noticed that today someone is selling an "Electric Chair". I thought that you could only find those in state prisons...

Works similarly if you find the right cliff:eek:

On top of that, some are so grammar incorrect they don't make sense. I don't even read the ones when half of the words are spelled wrong..

I check Craigslist regularly, You can find some legitimate deals.
The 2 headings I check are Tools and Farm & Garden.

The only problem is all the crap you gotta sort through looking for the good stuff.
I do get a good laugh though, some of the stuff is ridiculous, like broken tape measures, old worthless tools that some little old lady thinks is worth top dollar. One guy had a wheel barrow that was all rotted out, had broken handles and a flat tire for $5, felt like calling him up and going to look at it and try bargain him down a little :)

Or the ones who so boldly exclaim they will not consider a lower price "So DON"T even Try" then a week later they have the same item for a lower price.

I guess that's what you get for a free service, though some categories in certain markets are not free, like real estate in some metro areas as well as some of the services offered categories, they are fee based now.

Iplayfarmer, you got me.:D I never expected that.

One day about 3 years ago, I had my downstairs doorbell ring and there was a guy there in a power chair. He told me that he lived in the town about 2-1/2 miles from me and was looking for my neighbor. I was shocked. This guy had driven that power chair all the way to my house down some paved roads, but mostly gravel county roads. He wouldn't let me help him anymore than just to give him a bottle of water. I couldn't even convince him to let me charge his battery. After a few minutes of rest and talk, off he went on a chair identical to the one in the craigslist ad posted above. Go figure...

...and on craigslist. I just sold a piece of property advertised almost exclusively on craigslist, 11 acres of raw land. No real estate commissions and no advertising fees. I was both shocked and pleased to close that deal.:)

Those chairs are a blessing and a curse. I've responded to more than one 911 call for someone whose scooter chair got them a lot further from safety than they should have been.

Craigs list is great because it's free. People will list the craziest stuff because there's no risk. What are you out if no one comes to look at the complete collection of dog clothes you advertised. Sure I have to wade through a bunch of junk, but I still regularly find good deals that are close to me. I take about 90 seconds probably three times a day and monitor the 4 or 5 categories where I've found the best stuff.

My biggest gripe is pollsters who will not tell in the ad where they are located (what town or city) if they are on the other side of state I'm not going to waste my time or theirs. Also when they respond with an email address that has a blocker which will not let a unknown email through:confused:

My FIL died last spring and my MIL wanted me to sell his "electric chair" that he had gotten free from Medicare. Even though Medicare had paid thousands of dollars for it, I soon found out there are so many others out there that it was essentially worthless. I guess when your investment is zero, it kinda drives down the resale value. :D

I love Craigslist, warts and all. I've given away a lot of stuff there and bought a number of bargains. Every time I list something I get deluged with scam offers and spam, though.

After my mother died, nearly 4 years ago, I sold her power chair on Craigslist for $250. As you said, new ones are expensive; used almost worthless.

And when I sold my ZTR & trailer, I put it on Craigslist and it sold within an hour. Obviously too cheap.:D

I've seen enough of those power chairs for sale that I've started wondering if there's some project that can be made from the parts.
