I figure some John Deere marketing people are on here. I want a 5625 with a e-hydro trans - build one and I'll buy it.

I find myself using my 4520 cab more and more because of the handy transmission. There are jobs that I need the extra heft of my 5525 with the powerReverse. Anyway, with the 2nd kiddo here - I need a buddy seat in both of my tractors (4520 is too small).

That would be a beautiful machine!

If they can build heavy construction loaders with hydro transmissions - a 5000 series machine should be a piece of cake.

I think it is a no brainer - I would take 1, maybe 2. :)

Why stop there?

Another good option would be hydraulically retractable axles that would narrow up the width to 1 meter:D:D Plus maybe shorten the wheel base to about 60" when needed. They have been doing this stuff in cartoons as long as I can remember.

I can see it now, a 6000 series landscape tractor to replace subCUT's.

Well, not really. I don't need the extra power, size or weight. I wish I had the deluxe valves on the rear and that they offered a e-hydro trans.

One other thing that would be nice would be the pull out radiator on the 6000. Cleaning the radiator twice a day while haying can be a hassle.

Does that mean you won't be sending in your downpayment anytime soon...? :D :D

AKfish, gotta get the new 4520 paid off first.:( But that should give them a little time to develop my next tractor.:D

I should mention though that the new 4520 seems to out manuever the older 820. I am not sure if it really turns sharper but it definately feels more compact.

Steve, have you posted any pictures of your new tractor, yet? I might have missed it..

If I had more confidence that a cab, 4520 would stand up to a baler over a few thousand hours - that would be my next tractor.

But, I know that a 5000 series could handle to job without a problem. So, I'll likely go with what I know..

I really like our 4520 - wish it had room for a buddy seat.

I suspect the 4520 would handle a square baler OK. I adding a couple wheel weights to each side and it makes it feel like a larger tractor. Is the area you are baling flat? I worry more about the implement driving the tractor instead of the tractor running things.

I would get the 4720 if I had to do it over- the air ride seat is standard and the extra horsepower would not be a bad thing for baling.

Haven't posted pictures yet but will set up to do this soon.

If I was operating on larger acreage predominately as I suspect you are a 5000 series with reverser would be a better choice. The 4000 series is about as big as I can fit in the yards for landscape work. Today I will be riding the older 820 all day with a 5 1/2 ft tiller for a friend who bought it from me. He has a Deere 3100 LS (about 85 hp) with a 10 ft disc and we are trying to get his place organized to reseed. After planting is over I am going to fix up his older Deere and take some pics.

Which 5000 are you considering?

Small square baler?

Haven't made my mind up, yet. Depends upon several factors - baler, accumulater system is a big part of the decision.

Yup, small bales. Mostly Timothy with a little Blue Grass thrown in.

What kind of terrain will you be running it? If it is flat, I bet a 4520/4720 would do fine.

Baler only or are you going to pull a trailer also?

Hum - you might be right with the 5xxx

Mostly flat ground. Easy stuff. Just the baler with accumulator. Looking at the Kuhn system. No added Hp needed. Don't like the twist that is placed on the bales as they move thru into the rows, though.

Seems like it might break twines or mess up the shape of the bales and make your "pods" harder to pick up and stack. No experience with it and haven't heard of other people's experiences, either. Just my look at it.

Accumulator discussion is a religious one. I have pretty much decided to pass on small squares - too much work and a pain to store. I will stick with rounds.
