My MF 1533 (first tractor) only has 26 hours, so you can see that I'm not very experienced yet.

Today was my first experience in using my new grapple, and I'm wondering particularly about techniques you grapple users have for rooting out small saplings and such. I was attempting to lower the tines into the dirt while moving toward them, then curl and lift as I got under them.

I didn't always get them out on the first try...had problems lifting on the first try, and had to go back and forth several times with most of them. These were saplings up to 1.5 to 2 inch diameter...seemed very time-consuming.

The only picture I currently have is the one in my avatar.

Here's a larger one of it...

Thanks!

I can't see the braces for the tines in the front, but if they are there, just push two or three tines under the 2 or 3 in trees and just flip them up and out.

Amazing attachment. Do you happen to know what they cost?

froggy,

It's a Markham grapple; I paid $1088 including shipping and $100 for extra tines/braces...
