Just added work lights on a 2620

Hi all, thought I'd share my work lights that I just completed. They are hella optilux, found them on amazon.com. I used the 20 amp work light circuit that is under the right rear fender to power them. I added a small waterproof rocker switch to turn them on/off ( I used a link in another work light thread to purchase these). I found some "L" brackets in the lumber area at lowes. The are simpson strong-tie brand. I believe they are for attaching 4x4 posts to concrete or something like that. They ended up being a tad short for swiveling the lights the way I wanted so I had to add a bit of metal to extend them. I painted them to match. They work very well and add a tremendous amount of light. I bought the hellas cause I liked the mounting bracket. Very easy to swivel them up/done and spin 180 degrees for rear work as well. I found some small sticky back zip tie holders that are holding the wire loom to the rops.

Very nice. Normally I would expect the safety police to go after you for "modifying" the ROPS, but since you used a "safety" on the ram for the FEL, I think it is a wash ;-)

Take a voltage reading on your battery before you use them and then take another after an hour of use to see if your alternator was able to keep up. I would think it should, but that is always the tough part with lights (drawing too many electrons)

There is a piece of angle on both sides. Thats a good idea on the voltage check. It may be sometime before I need to use them however.

Good job. I like what you have come up with. You are a little ahead of me on this one. I just started last night mocking up work lights on my 2620. I am glad to see that you had the same idea I had, when I found the existing wiring. I was originally going to mount the switches on the dash, but that would have been alot more work and wiring. I decided to put mine on a plug so I could dissconnect them and hook up my sprayer and run it off the same switch. I decided to go with the green switches, (flipped coin). I was originally going to mount 4 lights with 2 switches but decided I could just rotate them when I needed to, 1 rear facing, 1 front facing or both front or both rear.

PS. Is that a Traxxas T-maxx I see in the background?

Thanks, I see your going with the magnet mount. I explored that option but changed my mind. Looking back it would have been much easier however. That is a Traxxas Emaxx you are seeing. Wanna buy it? I have a small r/c habbit, many planes and a couple of trucks. I ordered a couple of the red switches, one for future use=) With the plugs right under the fender its very easy to wire. Yes, I can just rotate one or both around to face the rear, works well. Thanks by the way for your advice on buying the tractor, I appriciated your imput.

Nice job on the lights! I am in process of installing some on mine. I moved my power from the left fender to the right fender to mount my switch on the same panel on the right fender. I mounted mine on the ROPS at the hinge point where the nut is welded on. The draw back is when you look to the rear the light is in your eyes so mounting them on the top is better. However at the hinge point you get soem heat off them on the cold nights pushing snow

They come in red and green. I thought the red was closer to a Kubota look

Nice Job on the lights. I think I will buy the Hella Optilux's for my Bx2230. Just curious, why didn't you just mount the light directly to the ROPS? Is there an advantage for you to use the simpson bracket?

Even though they are flood lights the light pattern was not correct if I mounted them upside down. If I remember right the light is shaped so if you try to flip it in the bracket it restricts movement. I did not want them on top of the rops, so it only left one option and that was to mount them as I did.

Not to bump a stale thread, but I too have a 2620, and I'm wondering about the work light circuit, such as location, and if it's fused.

I'm looking at possibly doing a pair front and rear under my canopy like a B26, switches in the same location, clean look.

It's under the right rear fender on a B2620 near the tail lamp. I think it had a quick connect type plug inline IIRC.
