Thank you, it was too much work!
I had to use those fence post to skid the stones backwards. The hill was too steep to do it sideways, and I could not come in from the bottom do to the wall. So I skidded them up the hill on that steel plate, onto the 4" fence posts, then let gravity do its thing, while my neighbor alternated the post to keep them moving, I just eased it back on the BX.
It took about 1 month to get them all situated.
It was harder trying to place them, because of the angles of the stones, and the color. Not only that, but I knew I would only have one chance to get them right, I think I could have done better, but it was my first one.
We did the stone walls last year, this was the smaller one, the dark area is a slate bench, the other one is closer to the house. I read up some of rock gardens, but there isn't much info out there on buillding them. The one thing that help all my wifes plants live this summer and I am sure it made a big difference, is that I tried to angle all the stones into the hill. It really helps get the rain into the soil and not run off.
Stones are very addicting!
Heres a shot looking down from the upper wall taken lat year, you can see the rock garden isn't there yet.
And this is the whole upper wall, I had to piece the pics togther because I didn't have a wide angle lens. This is when we finished it last year. Most of my planting have been on the lower one this year.
Ever since I got that **** BX, my projects have gotten out of hand! I used to be happy just planting a big rootball! Its a great machine and I am glad I didn't settle for anything less! I am always amazed. That 1 ton rock lifts the rear tires of my bother inlaws 50 bota using the pallet skids{ He loaded it into my trailer}. He seem surprised i was able to place it with my little machine.
