Hi all, after destroying a set of blades on the farm king 5 foot mower I want a rough cut, here is one for sale locally, he is asking 500 dollars and says its a finish cut pull behind 2 blades, at 5 foot I assume its one spindle with two half blades underneath, my quetion is , is it worth 500 dollars and will a CK20 gear run it, I have a lot of rocks and uneven ground in the ditches and this may be a solution, I wanted a 4 foot but nothing around here for sale

Thanks

Unit looks to be in good shape. Good brand name and reasonable price. You're correct about single spindle & two blades. You would normally keep the blades dull on a rotary mower as dull blades splinter saplings and the like thus preventing regrowth.

A five footer on a CK20 should be fine provided you're not chopping down waist high growth (if you are, then lift, cut, lower & re-cut). I wear a construction hard hat (actually a logger's hardhat, complete with ear muffs) because I also run into a lots of rocks on my property.

I have used a 5' shredder behind my ck20 hst before. First time the field was mowed in what appeared to be 5 - 10 years. Low range, take it easy. I even used it to knock down , by backing into, heavy brush (largest about 2" diameter)

Looks to be missing a few parts, a three point pin and the PTO connection. I wouldn't call that a finish mower, more a bush hog / rough cut type. If the missing parts are included I think it's near or slightly above the upper end of the price range for a well used mower.

That's a rough cut mower not a "two blade finish mower". Rhino makes some pretty good stuff IMO (see my sig line). $500 seems reasonable but not without the other half of the PTO shaft.

I have a Mahindra 2015, which is pretty similar in size and weight to the CK20. I have run a 5 foot hog on my machine, with the same results as the above posts. (I had to knock the high stuff down before I could just run over it) But a word of caution... More than anything, a five footer is heavier, and hangs further off the back of the tractor, making the front end very light. I've found that it can reduce the handling, especially on hilly ground. Not a deal breaker, but be careful.

That is a rotary cutter (brush hog as some might call it) and a SE4 is a 48" cut.
It is also missing some brackets for the top link as stated.
The cutter has been discontinued but rhino is ver good about parts.
To answere your question yes your CK20 will run it.

I agree there are parts of the 3pt hitch missing but it appears usable as is. Just attach the pins then hook up a chain to that dangle thingy and it should pull fine. You won't be able to lift the rear of the mower easily but many folks use these bush hogs without a solid top link anyway. On the other hand, there is no tractor side to the PTO shaft in the photo and you will need that.;)

thanks for the info, will let you know how well it runs, did get a price on a 48 inch one new, 4 weeks delivery and 2200 dollars, price is not the main concern, I would prefer a new one but 4 weeks is too long to wait

That is a rip off. A new Bush Hog Squealer 480 which is about the same as the SE is only about $1000 last I checked. The SE4 is not a heavy duty mower but rather an economy model like the squealer.

Well went to pick it up, the parts he had were not in good shape and it requires work to get it back in service, now looking for a new one, getting prices you guys pay in the US is hard, a new 4 foot John Deer sells for $2,000.00 cdn or nowerdays $1826.00 US, anyone know the price of the model RC2048, what could it cost to ship into Canada, the best delivery date is end of September

I would go back and get it. Go to TSC and get the new PTO shaft and 3pt hitch pins etc, couple cans of equip paint (AC or Kubota orange), 2 qts 80-90w gear oil. spend an hour or two and fix it up. Then get your mowing done, when done if you don't like the machine resell it for $750. Get going before its gone.
Oh and the only time myCK20HST has bogged with my 48"KK hog was in tall wet grass. I just mowed a vacant lot for a guy last week with weeds over my ROPS and saplings 2-3" dia.
Just put loader about a foot off ground and go slow, this is where HST really helps.

I second Joe48's suggestion. Can't go wrong. Look at those new prices

I just picked up a new TSC 5 footer for $810, including 7% sales tax. I don't know about the conversion rate but it sounds like all the prices are too high. Jake
