I bought this Kaufman 24' gooseneck new in 2017, paid extra for blue paint, double jacks, springs on the ramps, and American tires with a spare. Paid $5,800 for it. I looked the same trailer up on their website last week and the base starting price is over $9K

Yep, not the best time to be in the market for a trailer or anything that requires a lot of steel for sure, yet here I am considering buying a 25+5 GN.

The interest rates are going up; hopefully will stabilize some of this price inflation.

I sure do remember those days: my first home mortgage was 10% interest during the Reagan years (things didn’t change fast even when Carter’s term was up). Ridiculously low interest rates is facilitating extremely high housing costs and other inflation. Bumping up the interest rates a few percentages will slow down price increases. We sure don’t need 10% mortgages anymore though.

I bought this 6' X 12' trailer about 20 years ago from a neighbor who was a pipe welder. I repainted it, new floor, etc. It's almost ready for a new floor again. I priced lumber the other day, treated 2" x 8"s, around $300 not including hardware. I paid $400 for the trailer

Crazy times for sure.

Same issue in Europe, though the European central bank is reluctant to raise interest rates.. The cause of the credit crunch of 2008 was never solved, they just put interest rates to zero so Southern European banks wouldnt crumple under the cost of their debts.
And China has a housing bubble as well.

We are all f*cked.

Every generation makes its way...

My first mortgage was the bargain rate of 13.75 with 1.5 points.

Many of my contemporaries bemoaned Never being able to buy with crazy high rates...

Fast forward with rates under 3% you would think everyone would be happy but that is not human nature...

I picked up only used trailers and work them a lot... with the high price of things it is theft I most worry about after a good friend had his Big Tex Dump stolen from a locked yard with thieves cutting through the fence and maybe using safety chains to move it as the the trailer ball lock...
