Your towing rigs and trailers

I’ve never driven a medium duty with an automatic other than a bus. You think they pull better? I have a 5500 with an 8.1 with an Allison behind it but it’s been non operational every since I’ve had it.
Yes, but the caviot is that the trans logic has to be right. I loved my Cummkms/Allison combo in my rollback, buddies almost identical truck with the Cat/Allison combo is not even remotely as good, part of it is the way the Cat c7 pulls but i think a major part is the trans just doesn't shift right to me. Both are the 5spd, 6 are even better.

What? Only when compared to today's engines. Back then the 7.3 powerstroke was one of the best, most powerful engines you could get in a pickup and could easily last 500k miles.
They are even still sought after today by many.

They didn’t explode which was a pretty high standard for Ford to meet for a long time but they’re the most overrated engine in history IMO.

Should I get the bath scale out and measure the hitch weight?

It COULD be measured with a bath scale!

Or I could just assume it’s well in excess of the 10 percent minimum and not bother.

Here’s my new to me trailer. I’ve never been a fan of tilt decks before and for tractors I still think it’s a waste of money but for hauling the mini x or skid steer a tilt deck is awesome.

Yes.....but I believe that the suggested maximum is 15%

That’s more of a pickup thing. Medium and heavy trucks can do way more.

I like that, was wondering about how to do it.

That would make sense!
Yup, I have 2 tag trailers that spec between 25-35% tongue weight to reach capacity! Not a big deal on a larger dump truck.
