The problem with a PTO generator on wheels is, you have to hook it up to the 3pt, or risk it flipping under a sudden heavy load.

I mount mine on a trailer with a wider stance. That way, all you need to hook up is the PTO.

With a caster wheel on the tongue, it rolls around the shop floor like a dolly. It's also convenient to haul around the property with the tractor.

I went with a wide trailer also, but I do connect the tongue to the tractor. Some do, some don't.
I store the generator in a shed that the tractor doesn't fit into, so the trailer allows me to wheel it out when I need it.

Can't imagine the damage a PTO half shaft could do, whipping around in the air, should the tractor and trailer ever manage to somehow drift apart. :D Best case scenario, they only wreck the PTO shaft, but they're still without power until repaired.

3pt pto generator couldn’t be easier to connect and store. I agree pto generators need secured and driveline straight. Bought mine used and did change the platform as some are better than others. Spends considerable more time stored than use. Needs to be easy to deploy in all weathers.

Do use corrosion-X spray on pto splines, shafts and couplers on all equipment helps make easy, clean connections versus grease. Have noted no wear even with heavy cutters.

I put a pto shaft on mine that has a shear pin in it, if it ever gets jammed up that way, the pin will shear and prevent damage.

Liking the BigFoot mods on the gens...... need some off-roading videos of these too !

Went up to my mom’s house today and got the 2 generators out of the garage for her. Brought them down to my garage to clean them up, service, and sell them. One is an old McCulloch 3300 watt job, with a flat head Briggs on it. Vintage 70’s.

The other is a Troy Bilt 13kw with an electric start Briggs OHV. Last time they were serviced was 2017. Probably haven’t been run much since. I need to drain whatever gas is left out and put some fresh in to test them. Luckily both have fuel shutoffs and were run until the carb was empty.

Picked up an oil filter and plug for the Troy Bilt from ACE hardware.

I remember as a kid, going with my dad to Sugarman’s in Eynon, PA to buy it. Was sort of a Montgomery Ward type store. They had a little of everything there. Actually there was a MW store down the road from S-man’s. Remember going there too.

We used that generator to run sump pumps, fridge and deep freezer, along with a few lights when the power went out.
