Your last generator Maintenance Run

Elevated wind yesterday, but no issues in the immediate area that I came across.

Given your extensive customer list, that's a healthy fleet, aside from that infant-mortality. It happens. Much backlog-time on replacement engines, or has that gotten better ?

Last one got to me in 8 days.

big hole blown thru side of engine block

GRS, what was cause? Oil? Did it blow under full load?
No idea of cause yet. Will order new engine tomorrow. After replacing it, i may tear into old one.

was about 3 am when it blew according to owner, so doubt full load.

Well not really a maintenance run…

Had wind gusts yesterday hitting 50mph or more. Our power stayed on. Today about 930 am it went out. They are saying restoration tomorrow at 6pm.

Despite having done a test run 60 days ago the generator would not fire. Jump started it w tractor and it fired right up. Needed water for the horses.

Guess who has a trip to the auto parts store planned?

That's a whole-house gen you have now ? ..... me and my lousy memory

Just a battery swap..... not too hard a hit, for a +24 hour outage......

A boost pak at the ready is very handy,
we have a couple of these,

My next one is likely to be similar to this, more battery and usb which would be handy at times,

I change batteries in standbys every 5 years, unless homeowner denies the request. Mind you, i tell them if it doesnt start during next power outage, dont call me (im serious….i do).

i get 10 batteries at a time thru Exide, so i always have them available. I try to keep them fresh, so i dont want more than 10 per delivery.

but sometimes i get tired of handling the cores.

May as well get a battery maintainer while you’re there getting a replacement battery….

even though your gen had trouble starting, you still had a better day than this guy. Edit: this customer had his generator hit by car that made it around steep barrier.
Gen still runs. Needs new enclosure.

That pic grs reminds me of a thread somebody started on here, went something like "Lied to by Tractor salesman about Operating Costs"....

..... then he listed all the vehicle mirrors, gate posts, gates, siding etc that he'd managed to break with his new tractor.....

Murph sells tractors too.....
