Yes, the beehive heaters outlast the immersion heaters... Unless they were the 1850W version. But the 1000W behives run for years.

C8.3’s came with 1500W immersion heaters that didn’t last but the B5.9’s had a 1000W version that lasted for years.

I'm always learning but nothing bad to say about these units...

I look at replacing the heaters as maintainence...

No idea what a typical service life is on these Gensets... 25 years with 650 hours and over a thousand starts...

In prime power it’s 30,000 hours but standby units really depends on maintaining coolant ph and additives.

30-40 years is about the max, hard to get parts quickly at that age.

Looks like we will both retire around the same time... this Genset was my first big purchase.

All bets off if it gets regulated obselete.

Made the acquaintance of a man that made a good living exporting used Gensets all over the world that could no longer operate in certain areas of CA

I've got 50,000 hours on a German made Vacuum Pump and steam boilers and sterilizers and water heaters 25 years old... and airhandler 3ph 480v motors10hp and up...

Maybe Cali has outlawed ethylene glycol.

..... I probably shouldn't even jest....

Rgds, D.
but ethylene glycol is green, so it would be part of the new green deal?

An antifreeze you could finally drink and not die?

OK, guys here’s the problem. I have a Kohler 17 kW automatic standby generator, and twice now the generator has started up without sending power into the house.

The last time was just a couple of days ago, and what I did was go out and cycle the 70 amp circuit breaker. I did it while the generator was running, and I flipped it off and on once. Nothing. Then a second time, and Presto! Power was delivered to the house.

Any ideas why this happened? Should I install a new circuit breaker?

Many vehicles get scrapped up here because (coolant was never maintained) the heater core rotted and nobody wants to pay the labour to take the dash apart.....

ur will be on top of his situation, but coolant often gets ignored. Advantage goes to air-cooled in the small stuff, with only one fluid to neglect.....
