VERY nicely done!

Dave I really haven't monitored the fuel consumption and probably only have put >20 hrs. on it.
Iirc it's a small 3cyl and only 6500w and you're right, water cooled. I did come across a picture of the cashiers check and I paid (used-original owner) $2200. I have considered selling it with my bigger unit online, but I have a problem letting things go.
The guy (in the business) I bought the 20k from said he could sell it in a minute to the maple sugar guys for their vaccuum pumps, and with the general shortage of back up power units...might just turn me into an opportunist. :)

Supply/Demand..... with the production backlogs today, you could likely sell that 20 in a heartbeat. Tho, I know what you mean about hanging onto equipment you like.....

What I could find online might be a nextgen version of yours (attached).

May sound like a weird question..... does yours have Low Oil Shutdown ? Attached pdf refers to an Oil Lamp, and one listing for a used one I saw before finding the pdf stated Run Out of Oil....

No, I'm keeping the 20 and entertaining the idea of selling the kubota. The 20kw is probably twice as "big" as I need, but I was happy with the $4500 price and the 1800rpm. Mrs. Rusty wanted to get away from the portable type requiring the tractor to move it to the house and connecting, playing with the panel lockouts and "stuff", maybe she has a horrible accident planned for me.
The 20kw is a 200' walk from the house (out at our meter and transfer sw) so it's just starting the genny and throwing the xfer switch.

Oversizing generator is a good thing. Better fuel economy compared to running a smaller one full out.

I do like 1800 units but many could no longer be sold in CA due to emmission certifications...

Just finished 4 hours loaded at 100kw on a 125 prime rated Onan...

25 years old with 650 hours...

It's loud so my neighbors would hate me if I brought it home lol.

that's the nicest looking generator cover I've ever seen.
I'd hate to get rid of the gen just for that...but no sense having two if one is reliable.
Do you have a family member you can bequeath that to?

they wont hate you if you power their houses also. Might have to purchase a fuel truck too.

I have a question, my 20kw has a block heater that in every respect appears to be factory equipment (in line with the lower radiator hose) that is thermostaticly controlled and 1000w. Do they cycle off at a set water temp? I have a problem burning 1000 watts around the clock (cheap bastard) and have it un plugged, planning to energize it per conditions. I know that I can't predict an outage and will eventually get caught. The pre heating does work, not sure if it's glow plugs or a grid type but the little onan 4 cylinder diesel sure takes a few minutes to get its **** together even around 30* and experimenting with the block heater... the head gets almost uncomfortably hot and starts with about 1turn of the crank.

No idea. I know generac heaters have inline thermostats. On my tractor i have a digital wall timer that i set to run a few hours early morning and few at night. You could so that and add a plug in thermostat that wont allow it to heat if its not cold something like C03658E0-48BC-427C-A72E-3C6C61F9579A.jpeg. Or some other kind of thermostat that activates at lower temperatures
