Isn't that on the quiet side OEM?

My uncle built a concrete bunker into the hillside of his off grid cabin for a WWII surplus military Winco 115v generator... Wouldn't know it was there. Lots of room around it with a inside concrete stem wall to baffle sound... he used it 40 years until utilities came in...

Same here. I run my 4052 in E-PTO. In order to generate 60HZ, the PTO speed is only about 480RPM. My tractor coupled to an 1800RPM generator creates a very smooth and quiet setup.

External gearbox between PTO and gen then ?

No, my generator has the gear box built in and the gen head is designed for 1800RPM operation. I have a QC12 model.

BaumaLight - PTO Generators

I think the confusion and question is regarding your indication of 480 rpm on your pto.
Your 4 pole generator requires 1800 rpm to provide 60 Hz power,
the generators gearbox is usually set to require 540 pto rpm to get the 1800 winding rpm to make 60 Hz power.
Normal pto speed at rated speed is 540 rpm,
if we have an economy mode the pto would be turning well past 540 rpm at rated speed.
So we get to reduce the engine rpm while still getting 540 rpm on the pto.
As an example in normal mode my tractor provides 540 pto rpm at approximately 2400 engine rpm.
It would also provide 760 pto rpm in the economy mode at the same engine rpm of 2400.
I can reduce my engine rpm to approximately 1750 rpm and with the pto in the economy mode it will provide 540 pto rpm.
So in my case I can choose to run 2400 engine rpm in standard mode to power my generator and get 60 Hz power,
or I can shift to the economy mode on the pto and run the engine at 1750 rpm to get 540 pto rpm for the same 60 Hz power.
Looking at the spec sheet for your generator it requires 540 pto rpm for 60 hz power.

The "indicated" PTO rpm as stated by the tractors gage is 480RPM. This translates to 60HZ on the generator side. I was surprised by this, but this is in fact my findings.

I'm sure it is,
I don't know what tractor you are referring to but I would be willing to wager that that indicator is indicating the speed it would be turning in standard mode.

The tractor is a JD 4052R. I have not tried running the generator in standard PTO mode. I'll do that and see if the indicated PTO speed (540rpm) develops 60HZ.

Out of curiosity I read up on that model a bit.
It seems that if the dealer installed the software package along with the hardware that your tractor will limit the engine to 1750 rpm when the economy pto mode is selected,
so that you can't overspeed an implement.

Yep, you are exactly right.

Old is New again :cool2: that ^ would be a high-value addition to a Cali property today..... bonus points for fire-proofing.....
