When I put the tractor on my pto generator in the 540E mode it sits right outside my attached garage and I can't hear it in the house and just barely in the garage.
Same here, my tractor sits there humming away and inside the house you'd never know you are on generator power...

Same here. I run my 4052 in E-PTO. In order to generate 60HZ, the PTO speed is only about 480RPM. My tractor coupled to an 1800RPM generator creates a very smooth and quiet setup.

Engineering...... definitely a place Dat 'Ol Debbil is in the Details......

One of the best custom small gen enclosures I've seen was the one Paul Shorts built and installed at his place, beside his driveway. Ticks all the right Functional boxes, and looks high-grade industrial. If you've seen some of his other videos of the "flurries" they get on The Rock, you can understand the motivation to do what he did.....

Thermal and exhaust management, maintenance access, fluid transfer etc...... as you guys have detailed...... lots of of opportunity for things to Go Wrong....... Go Wrong......

Enclosures - Done Right...... many benefits..... Done Wrong, major fire and bank-account hazard.......

All this talk about dog houses, this is what I put together. 3" of foam insulation floor, ceiling and walls and mouse proof. A light bulb will keep it warm. Turns out it's a little shy @6500w to keep me from worrying about appliance and well damage and I'm tired of playing breaker bingo rationing power.View attachment 676895View attachment 676896View attachment 676896View attachment 676897

Might just be my browser...... I can't pull up those attachments.

Bigger engine/lower rpm, bigger muffler..... lots of (sound management) benefits there :drink:

External gearbox between PTO and gen then ?

I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it, being "forkable" and loaded with the lifting eye and pretty quiet it might get used at our camp.
