Dial up is what was available here...
My tenants had satellite and complained of cost after I reluctantly spent $2,500 on tree removal in 2004... he said he was getting throttle back and paying overage... sometimes he was spending $300 a month or about 3x the cost of city Comcast then.
Then HD Satellite came out and they wanted me to to spend another 8k taking out a bunch more and I said no when asked in 2009?
Since then Internet has been a problem... in my rental agreement there is a line item that says not served by DSL, Comcast and no HD Satellite...
The problem comes back because the renters would call Comcast and they would be told the address is in the service area and then arrange for service only to have a tech show up and say it is not possible and then engineering would get involved and price install as much as 15k
After years of this Comcast and I were able to make a deal with Business Service and a long term contract so I furnish it as part of the rental agreement.
The irony is my tenant said he was very happy here except needed Internet for his new business... Comcast goes live the same week my tenant told me he make an offer on a house in town...
