Well, I put it all back together and I could swear it blew another head gasket! I made a long video of it running. It sounds like it blew again somewhere around the 1 minute mark.

I'm at a loss as to what more I can do. Unless the valves are not opening when they should, I don't see anything else which even could be wrong with it.

Not so sure, dosent look like what happend in the bottle the first time. When its cold from cold start up can you see bubbles in the bottle?

It sounds like an injector quit firing.

it definately sputtered, died down a touch then came back up. possibly the pump or and injector playing up or some crud dislodged and was ingested? it did smoke a touch when this happened but appeared to sort itself. if you are happy with its running now give her a bit of work to do :thumbsup: dont pussyfoot around with her either

That sounds good, I would not worry about the smoke in the exhaust..glad you have it going, you defintely deserve a break for a spell? Check the oil and the valve lash..

Well it sounded like the compression was at least equal this time from the little bit we heard while it cranked before firing up. :thumbsup:

Sounds like an injector is acting up. That will make an engine sound like it's coming apart.

Sometimes my equipment (336D) and others suffer from too much maintenance and too much knowledge. I agree with the others , run it and enjoy. 336D is a great machine. I've had mine 5 years and it is tops.

Sorry for the slow update, everyone. Life has been busy and I just finally got around to borrowing an actual implement to test the PTO with (I don't own a single implement yet!). I borrowed a 6' finish mower and mowed my and a friend's yard with it.

At first it was doing the clackitty-clack you all can hear on the final startup video, but after mowing for a while I noticed the clacking had gone nearly completely away. It was beginning to sound like a modern kioti engine. The exhaust note (that big, v-8 chevy truck-like note) is now prominent (I never even heard it before the rebuild) and the smoke which followed me all the way to my neighbor's house is now gone even under load! It now has that slight smoke when I throttle it under load, but never any other time (that I can easily discern, at least)!

I think this finally completes my rebuild thread. The tractor starts immediately, no longer smokes, lost that awful clacking sound and pulls a 6' finish mower in gear 6 (out of 9) without a single hesitation!

Thanks for the update. Sounds like it was just burning off the last bit of oil from assembly as well as seating the rings. Hope you dogged it good to seat them, but it sounds like it. Smoke at full throttel or throttleing up is normal.
And yess it should have that deep not by the exhaust, even my little 2000 has it by the pipe, if you can hear it over the banging 2cyl! Im sure your injectors maybe have freed up a bit, did you use any treatment?

And thats my type comedy. YOu get hounded for no pics so you include some total random pics with the post. And you know what i looked and read 90% of them!!!

Btw Domush I took some pics of my Koyker loader mount which should be fairly easy to duplicate. Will at least give you a platform from which to make another loader fit your machine let me know if needed.

I can get some pics of my brackets on my Yanmar loader. Its a solid brace under the middle of the tractor and a bracket up front-

let me know. Did the loader you bought come with a seperate pump ? Should be up front if its still together....

YES, please do post some loader photos! Especially wanted are specific mount points and how the pieces are attached together. I'll be making this from scratch, so specifics are really important to me.

another well done all the way from Australia. good to see you perservered with her and came out the victor. it probably wouldnt hurt to give her a good load up and workout again to ensure the rings have bed in properly. i also would advise running a 300:1 ratio of 2 stroke oil in it as this will help lube up the pump and injectors which i do with my landcruiser and both tractors.once again well done and happy yanmaring :thumbsup:
