for this part of your question, use "suitcase weights", John Deere has them for CUT's at 41 lbs each for about $40 US. They hang right on the front bumper, my YM1600 will hold 5 of them without any modification. Anywhere that services or sells John Deere Lawn Tractors should have are order them for you.

Right now I have 3 suitcase weights (123 lbs) on the front, they do help allot. I want 4 more for even heavier implements. The nice thing is they can be added / removed to balance weight for different implements or none.

We like Caroni & Sitrex finish mowers...both basically the same mower, made in Italy... good quality, easy to lube and service. You could do a 5' or 6' on a 2310. We had a less expensive Howse "Import" finish mower..."Import" in this case means made in China, and while the mower seemed OK, getting parts for it was a headache... Howse wasn't stocking them like they do for the stuff they build in-house....so we dropped the imports.
