Remember only tighten your fuel cap tight enough to not vibrate off

Those bleeders originally used a plastic ring. We always had problems with them leaking so we started to use orings there (at the suggestion of a long time customer) a couple years ago (I need to fix the website description & picture). I have not heard of a single problem reported since. The key though is to just not overtighten. You just snug them up. If you crank down on them like you would if they were a copper washer then the oring will just mash out the side and can leak. Just snug them up like any other oring fitting and it will never leak.

If it was a pressurized system then that would be different and would certainly need something like a copper crush washer. This is just gravity fed.

Orings are very commonly used on fuel bleeder screws.

Over tightening is my middle name.. Why they would go from plastic to rubber makes no sense to me.. A simple crush washer would have been a better idea since it doesn't matter if you crank them a bit.. One persons snug is another mans loose..

Crush washers, at least in my experience, can be finicky. Especially if you loosen and tighten them much (like a bleeder screw).

Aaron.. not to bust your hump BUT.. those Oring uses have a groove for the oring to sit & seal in..
The bleed screw on the inlet banjo bolt doesn't, its just a FLAT surface..
The "plastic" seal was purely for a manufacturing cost standpoint..{cheap}

I don't claim to be an expert by any means and I'm not arguing with what you are saying at all. I do know that we had a lot of problems with the plastic washers (maybe it was just a bad/old batch but they were trouble) and had no problems that I can recall since switching to orings.

I will investigate to see if I can find a better solution though.

I'll have to take another look tomorrow but I thought those bleeder bolts had a recessed groove also.

You can kind of see a recess below

Yanmar didn't. Aaron said "we started to use orings" referring to Hoye Tractor Co. Which is one of our main supply source for parts for our old yanmars. Aaron works at Hoye , so when he says that he is referring to his company there.

Yeah, I think u "MIGHT" get 3 tightenings on the plastic washer.. it deforms so bad, its worthless after just a couple of uses..

I was out by the tractor and I looked at the Bleed Valve on the Inj. pump and I could see Blk. that looked to be a O-Ring. Definitely not a flat washer. I don't think it was Hoyes from the looks of the 3way head on the adjustment. 4/way socket, 2/way wrench or a Phillips head Adj.. I may be wrong but pretty much only on older equipment so it's Org.. I know I've used it well over 12 times so far and that's just me doing it. Snug it up with a large Phillips head screw driver and lock it down is how I've done it.

So I messed with the tractor this weekend, I’m still getting air at the injectors, it’s not as much as before. I don’t really see anything at the IP like I did before, the clear fuel line at full throttle, looks like I can see the fuel going back and forth but not really any air bubbles . So I did go out and work the tractor some but , after running for a few it would start to miss every now and then and if I would push the pedal all the way down a big cloud of white smoke,if I did it three times it would clear up run good and then start to load up again. So I really believe I stopped all the air from getting in the system before the pump. So would you say it’s the pump now putting the air in the system? Plus this is really the first real run the tractor has did since the new rings and valve cleaning.
Thanks for your time and help.

How about coating/sprinkling the fuel system w/ baby powder.. & pressurizing the fuel tank.??
Look for leaks.. not much, just a few lbs of compressed air will do the trick..
it'll show u cracked/brittle fuel lines, bad connections at the fuel filter.. leaking bleeder screws on the IP..
& maybe even bad orings on the DV holders on the IP..??

I will try that, I put the stock fuel filter housing back on and then discovered a hair line crack in the housing where the mounting bolt goes, so i put the temporary filter back on. It sure was nice using it yesterday, in the middle of messing with the Fuel, engine problems, I redid some pivot points on my FEL and it work really nice.
Thanks for all the help on this fuel problem!!
