Yanmar 2210
Started my tractor, yesterday, to do some work in the horse pasture. The 3-pt would not lift and Hydrostat would not engage gears. All worked fine when parked 2 weeks ago. Checked the gear lub level and was down about 1/2 gal. Added fluid to the full mark on dip stick but still no change. I'm thinking that the Hydraulic pump isn't working, but its strange to just quit all of a sudden without any type of indication. Would it be possible that the pump has a shear pin? Also are these pumps rebuildable?

I know it is a long shot but what happened to your 2210 has just happened to mine. Would you have any advice? I am in UK.

I believe the 2210 should have 2 Filters! A screw on oil filter style and a Screen filter in the Hyd. pan.. I'm wondering also if you may have sheared the pin on the Hyd. pump shaft?

When I started my 2210 on Sunday, it had been standing for a month with the arms dropped. I moved the lift lever and nothing moved. I got off the tractor and lifted the 3point manually, it moved without any resistance up and down. It felt like there was air in the system. I got back on and revved the engine to about 2000 revs. The arms lifted and dropped smoothly. Only then did I put the tractor in gear, 3rd speed 1st gear, tractor moved but did start with a jerk. I then put it into reverse and backed up to my flail mower, weighs about 220 kgs or 450lbs. The arms lifted it as normal.
When I had finished, I dropped the mower in the shed and moved the tractor forward a few feet and stopped the engine, gears in neutral. After a few minutes I restarted the engine, selected 3rd speed and 1st gear. The tractor would not move, I tried different speeds and gears but to no avail.
The transmission screen filter and fluid were serviced about 20 hours ago. There is only one filter on the 2210, the spin on filter is for the engine lubrication system.
I am a newby to hydraulics so any help and advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Has to be screen on the Transmission Valve body also all the 2210,2210D,2210BD are power shift. Info is pitiful on that model.

On the parts diagram, section 18 which shows the transmission pump, I cannot see a screen.
Please could you identify it from the parts manual.

Look for and They call it # TCG-4310 or a # PSG-2451 Regulator Gasket. Rectangle 4 bolt cover on the Valve body. On a the corner of it! I'm showing 2 of them so it's one of them. But this so rare and the screen itself and could be the same!

I have attached a pic from the YM336 showing the screen filter, item #51.
Your 2210 is likely similar and it can be accessed by removing the cover, item #54.
However, this would not effect the 3 point hitch.
The Power Shift system has a separate pump than the hydraulic system for the 3 point hitch.
Your problem is something common to both systems. Which is the oil.
I would suggest draining your hyd/trans oil again, pull out the filter screens and clean by washing with gasoline, thoroughly dry before re-installing them.
Then re-fill with a premium trans/hyd fluid.
Preferably one graded as J20B or C.

I need to add this. Ym2210
Hydrogen stopped working. Drained hydro fluid, it's was BLACK!
Pulled screen BLACK. Cleaned reinstalled. Added oil. No hydro.
Looking around saw the hard metal return line, it has a piece cut out and filled in with rubber hose. It was pitched, took it off and it was like desolved. Replaced with new hose and worked just fine. Note I had been bush hogging, and a limb must have hit it, but it was gone anyway. Just incase this .might help someone..

I think if you build up too much pressure in the Yanmar, it will go off like a Hydrogen bomb.

:eek::eek::eek:

OK, I'm be serious now.

After the BLACK goo was drained, did you RINSE out the entire hydraulics with DIESEL?
With the diesel in there, work the tractor thru all gears and ranges at low idle.
Drain all the diesel out. A residue is fine inside.
Clean the hydraulic filter.
Put it all back together.
Refill with the correct fluid as mentioned below.

ONLY use hydraulic fluid that meets JDM J20C. period. Never compatible with or stating recommend.
