Good plan.

99% of the stuff on these Yanmars is user-maintainable, designed that way, but overhauling an injector pump is simply best left to a specialist. There's calibration needed that you can't do without test equipment, and probably special tools needed too.

I was amused to find for overhauling injectors on these 70's designs, the manual specifies to scrape the orifice only with 'a wooden stick and mutton tallow'. How's that for Old School.

I just figured after 35 years service I would replace with new instead of searching for mutton tallow. Then what I received was NOS in 70's packaging. (faded lime green, not red). So, Old School anyway.

I would try spraying Kroil oil on it for about a week, it may do the trick ,worth a try

I have been using PB Blaster and WD40. is has loosened up but is still very stiff

I have used pb blaster & wd40 too, but there is no comparison to kroil! I won't ever be without it again. it will soak into 1 millionth of an inch.

i just ordered 2 cans of Kroil. I could not find any locally. will give it a try along with a prayer.

I had it soaking all day in PB Blaster. I rinsed it with an industrial degreaser, kept working and the rack suddenly freed up. I still think i have problem internally. Does any one have a breakdown with part names?

Here is out of the 240 parts manual, I think the same as your 2000.
