Yanmar YM 155 Hydraulic problem.

I have a Yanmar Ym 155 (approximately 1981) that has a rear hydraulic lift problem. I don't have an implement attached to test with but it appears the lift works ok in the up direction but not down. Also there is no way to check the fluid level in the hydraulic/transmission unit. There is a screw cap in that area marked 2.5 Gal but no stick to measure the level.

Have you checked the descent knob under the seat.

If it is turned in, it will block the fluid from going to tank when the 3pt lever is down.

It will also control the rate of descent.

If there is no stick to measure the oil level there might be a "looking glass" (I don't know what the name is) the size of a penny, maybe close to the PTO. The oil should be about half way depending on your hydraulic cylinders being retracted or not. Dust or dirt might make it difficult to find.

If you don't have a manual for your tractor, call the dealer and ask the counter person to look it up or one of the hyd tech in the back.

There might be a small lever right in front under your seat that got moved.
