Yanmar tug of war

When is this going to happen I would at least like a video of it!

Brings back memory's of my youth when we tied 4wd pickups back to back in the parking lot some Friday nites when someone got boastful about his new tires or new truck etc. :D

I remember from that the first guy who looses traction loses the pull simple as that no matter how big he is. fwtw

I think the question is which tractor has the most pulling power, 18hp 4wd or 24 hp 2wd. What do you think?

It all comes down to which is heavier. Assuming they are on pavement where both can get traction, the 2000 should pull the 1500 right over backward and kill its operator. Kids don't try this at home.

Traction is key here my guess the 1500D wins put a fat guy on it and a skinny guy on the 2000 to make it fair. :D

You guys should have been comedians, or maybe you are. :D

At least there are opinions on both sides of this senerio. I didn't state my opinion, but I will go with the 1500d 4 wheel drive. I think the guy comparing the two for pulling ability may have to flip a coin. Of course if 284 chains his together we may know the answer. :licking:

Just another opinion, if tractors were chained together at drawbar height and on dirt I don't think either would rear up. I think they would do a good job of digging the ground up. :)

I think a ballasted one will easily win.

If neither are ballasted, they would rotate in circles around the center point like a giant redneck pirouette. .. or they will both wheelie and the two drivers will knock noggins.

Comedy aside - I strongly recommend Don't Do This because I once saw a tractor nearly go over backward on the operator. I was a little kid, I thought he was just being dramatic like a rearing horse in the cowboy movies. Then I saw the looks on the faces of the men helping him pull the fence wire. They all looked like they had just seen a man nearly die.

I had mine stand up a couple of times. Once pulling on a 6" pine sapling and once pulling a fair sized felled tree-maybe 12". Both of these times I was using the little hitch down low. Even in low 1, it walks up really fast and when the clutch is stomped it slams really hard. The brake should be stomped simultaneously with the clutch and then let down gently. All this happens when you ease into a 'fixed' object. If you run into it, you just break traction. At least with my soil. Ignorance quickly turns into experience.

I saw 2 knuckleheads actually try that once with row crop tractors. Both tractors just dug in right where they were when the chain got tight inspite of the fact that one tractor had a 50hp and 4000lb advantage over the other.
