How hard would it be to hook up a yanmar tiller to a non yanmar tractor? I want to get a tiller that I can use on either the ym1700 or my NH 1920 ( 33 HP ).

Is it better to just get a standard 3pt tiller?

Chris,
Yanmar tillers are 3PH just like any other, except for the pins spacing. Just move the arms in closer on the NH.

It isn't as simple as just moving the arms in. The hitch pins on the tiller are set back further on the tiller. Many times when you hook an American brand tractor to a grey market tiller the tires will rub the front of the tiller body. I usually remove the lift pins, install 6 inch extensions, and then replace the pins. See my attached picture.

Brent,
Hadn't thought of the pins being too far back. I see what you're talking about.

I can attest to that problem. My yanmar is down for a head gasket and my neighbor tried to help me till my garden. He has a Ford 801 and the rear tires rubbed the tiller when he tried to lift it, Bre3tt's solution would have worked.

What about longer lower lift arms. When i got my ym1700.. the lower lift arms on it were so short.. they were useless.. looked like tyranosaurus rex arms.. I replaced them with a set of lower lift arms found at tractor supply co... probably for like a ford 8n or something...

I have a yanmar tiller that leaks oil - anyone taken one apart? Is it easy to replace the seal? I believe it's a RS1300.
thanks

Yes that is a Massey. I think it was an MF150.
