It's probably time to change the fuel filter on my Yanmar FX32D. I see that Hoye has a filter for that tractor, but it looks like it's going to be too big. I measured the glass that it fits into, and it measures about 3" tall and 1.75" wide. The Hoye website has one that is 3.5" tall and 1.9" wide. I've attached a photo of the glass filter canister. (By the way this looks kind of small for an engine of that size.) I wonder if what I have is not original for that engine.

There were two common lengths on the earlier YM's and that looks like the shorter one.

I think only the longer one is considered standard now, with support from Wix etc.

If you don't see the shorter element listed, just order a filter element, a new bowl, and an o-ring at the same time. Assuming you have space there for the longer bowl.

I can't seem to see where the filter is in the image.

I'm showing 2 filters for a FX32 Fred. FF-3263 3.49" tall 1.378" OD. and FF-3507 3.50 Tall 1.969" OD. I would take that one to a NAPA and the FF# with you.

Thanks, everyone, for the help. I don't know if there's space for the larger filter bowl. Will check tomorrow. Will also take the old element out and see if Fredericks or NAPA can match it.

I am having the same issue and was wondering if you found a solution?
Thanks

Why not just delete it entirely and install a Racor filter base and Racor spin on filter instead? Considering the filtration capacity of the Racor as well as the water blocking attributes, you'd probably never have to ever change it again. Did that to both my Kubota's and eliminated the OEM bowl filter entirely. Nice thing about a Racor is you can drain off the contaminates via the clear bottom of the filter when necessary.

Great idea, I was thinking of something similar if I can’t find a replacement bowl. I’d just have to figure out the mounting, which should be pretty simple given its current location.
Thank you!

Did you get this resolved?

Some Ebay listings sell the element / bowl / o-ring together, as a kit. You might buy such a set (or maybe a previous owner did). I think any of the similar bowls will mount on your housing.

When I bought the YM240 (US version of YM2000) in 2003 it had some prior owner hacks that I remedied to get it back to stock. The fuel filter had been replaced with a cheap disposable filter.

I went to the importer/wholesaler of VN 'refurbs' and bought the correct filter assembly off a salvage YM2000.

Then I discovered that their warranty return 'refurb' with the blown engine had been refurbed(!) with a fuel filter bowl and element that Yanmar never heard of.

After I bought the proper element and bowl listed for my model, it then conformed to the factory parts manual so buying elements has been simple ever since.

The bogus fuel filter I discovered on the YM240.

The used filter assembly from a blown 'refurbished' Yanmar - with wrong, unknown element and bowl.
After I added the proper bowl and element, maintaining this has been simple.

And some trivia for the real Yanmar enthusiasts if you've read this far: That YM240's zig-zag throttle linkage is how tractors sold by Yanmar-US conform to the American standard of pull the throttle lever to slow down, while my YM240's twin sold in Japan, YM2000, has a simpler throttle lever you push to slow down.
