Yanmar 1300 Original/beautiful
All, I have talked about buying a Yanmar 1610D, I have gotten in touch with a well known vender from this site. I am looking to upgrade from my Yanmar 1300 2WD. I purhcased this in May, have used it about 10 hours and although it ran flawless, I think I need a 4WD bigger tractor when we start building our house this year. With landscaping, backfilling etc, really will need a FEL, thought I wouldn't but after our last snow fall, would have been great to have a FEL. It ran perfect did the job as required but have come to the conclusion from you all that a FEL is probably out of the question. I purchased it for 2100 which included a two point tiller. From Hoye, I purchased the lift arms and top link bracket which was around 250. Purchased manuals, filters, for around 100. From Fredericks bought Rear hubs and wheels and turf tires and innertubes that I have not even painted and mounted yet which was 500.00. All in all, I have 2950 in it. Would like to list on Ebay, for this amount. The auction would be for the tractor the manuals, the filters, 3 point assembly and extra wheels/turf tires and the tiller. I have attached pictures, it was a local tractor, 260 hours, possible original ( I know I will hear about this), but it has the original Japanese stickers on it and has never been painted. Thanks

don't know about listing it on e-bay . Some sellers on there get their auctions pulled if it's a yanmar listing..I guess you can give it a try. You may sell it b-4 they pull it.

I'm thinking you are into this thing too deep to recoup anywhere near your expenses, (a 2 point tiller for a 3 point tractor?). As mentioned before, good luck on selling it on Ebay.

Norm, kind of what I am thinking, will not give it away, nothing else can have two tractors, one attached to the mower, the other ready for FEL work. Will try though, Ebay'ers will buy a dog dropping if you market it right.

If it doesn't get pulled b-4 it sells. If someone notifies e- bay that you are selling a yanmar , e-bay will pull your auction.

Be sure to include your phone # in the ebay ad so that they can call you on the phone after they pull your auction;)

Ebay seems to do an automated search for the banned model numbers. (all of the Japanese-market models). If the model number shows only in your photo, but your auction is for 'tractor with Yanmar engine' you will probably find your buyer.

Like Ernie said, put your contact info prominently in the ad. "Test drive before bidding. Call xxx-xxx-xxxx".

I would also name your city. Nobody wants to bid on a tractor before they know what it is going to cost to get it home.

Thanks, to all, for the great advice, I knew Ebay has pulled Yanmar's, I was going to be careful in my description, never thought of the phone number in the listing. With that all being said, what would be a sound reasonable $ amount that I should sell it for? I would be willing to take a small loss, but anything too large of a loss, I might as well as keep it and like I said have two tractors. To recap what would be in the sale Two point tiller; tractor, manuals, extra oil/fuel filters, Three point conversion, (easy to take off and rehook up two point tiller), and an extra set of newly refurbished rear unmounted wheels, hubs, new turf tires and inner tubes.

Heck, start high. Set a reserve that is near your cost.

Per Don Lancaster, self-proclaimed ebay guru: if your item sells within the first couple of times you list it on ebay, you set the reserve too low.

sounds good. Some have a price that is high & then list make an offer.I bought a set of ATV tires this way. He sent me an e- mail back saying that he couldn't take my offer ,but said what he would take.

.....and I, also a self-proclaimed Ebay guru, say if the seller is happy with the selling price, the buyer paid too much.

I appreciate everyones insight, I have been in touch with a well known Dealer who is listed as a member on this site whose business resides in the buckeye state. He has recommended the 2210D over the 1610D to me. It has 6 more HP and is only 200.00 more, 2 cylinder versus 3 cylinders, what is all you guys opinions. Which one would you select?

Just a thought, in case you don't want to expose your telephone number to the whole world, you could ask them to send you a message via the ebay message service if they'd like to drive before buy. That would keep both your telephone and email address private.

Speaking as an occasional ebay seller - that's exactly how I want it to end up. :D

My suggestion to show the seller's phone number is to get it out there as early as possible, before ebay finds and bans the auction.

Many of your target customers know that Ebay enforces Yanmar-USA's assertion of trademark, and the customer hopefully will write your number down the first time he sees it. At that point if the auction disappears, you still have the potential customer. And I think you want to say 'come for a test drive' to distinguish your auction from the scammers, who float the purported location of their equipment all over three continents if you ask to see it before bidding.

Ebay won't forward PM's to you if they have killed the auction. But if they killed it, they will return a note to all PM senders 'Be Very Afraid...' and you don't want that.

I'm a big fan of 2cyl. and the 2210 is a great value. Just be sure it fits your lot and slopes.

If we are talking about the same dealer, he shows the 2210D being $1400 less than the 1610D.

Well, that particular dealer will want a happy customer, and if that is what he recommends based on your uses and property, then that is what you should have. I'm sure you'll be happy with the tractor.
