Before starting cold, remove the radiator cap. Then watch in there while someone starts the tractor. A rush of bubbles then or a little later as it warms up proves a bad head gasket (or worse ... - but less likely).

And if there is any question of coolant getting into the cylinders it is imperative to spin it with the compression released before starting it, to blow out the liquid. Water is uncompressible and can shatter a piston, bend a rod, etc.
