I am going to catch grief for buying a LS, father in law and brother in law only see one shade.. green.

I have a Cub commercial mower and my brother in law tried it and liked it and went and bought a green one, and you can tell it is not built as well.

Yes you will catch grief until you have them compare dollar for dollar and features you get that they paid extra for. When I was looking for a tractor I considered Green, Red, Orange, and even the other Blue but for the features and options the LS came with the other colors could not match the price. If it had been only 1-2K difference I may not have bought an LS but the others weren't even close.

My timber is going to come close enough to paying for a 4046 that I'm gonna do it. I know it has probably been explained to death, but still have hydro versus shuttle qualms. Keep in mind my tractors are old clutch ,stop shift.
Never really used a shuttle or hydro to know how much difference there is. Don't mind giving up some power, I have a,120 hp Massey for that. The real thing is spending extra 1000 to 1500. Plus the dealer would have to get me a hydro. Doesn't normally keep them so I don't know how long a deal that would be

Depends on how much forward back your going to do.
I like my hydro with the amount of loader work I'm doing.

An ordered unit should take no longer than a month.
If you are ordering consider R1 tires if you going to be doing field and wood work.

When I ordered mine it came in a week. the hydro for loader work is the best way to go- just push the pedal forward and scoop up your load and switch pedals and back out. really nice for bush hogging under the tree line also.

Find a dealer (any brand,even a used one) with a HST in stock and ask to drive it. That will help you make up your mind.

We have a New Holland TL100A with 12 fwd / 12 rev. and a Kubota B2710 HST that we bought from former owner of our ranch with only90 hours on it. Unless I need the power of the NH the Kubota is my go to tractor. Really like HST, so does wife. She mows with it all the time with the MMM. I am able to do a lot of dirt work with the FEL and box blade. I am looking on getting similar tractor with a little more power (40ish) and will most likely be an LS.

I'll be the dissenter here. I picked up an XR3037C shuttle 2 weeks ago and have NO COMPLAINTS. The clutch is light and easy to push and the 4SPD on the right stick is syncro so no need to push the clutch all the way down to shift, Just let off the throttle, Push the clutch slightly to release the gear and shift. You also get a foot throttle with the shuttle which you DO NOT get with the hydro so if you want a little extra GPM from your pump for the loader you can hit the foot throttle to lift the loader faster. I tried a hydro 2 different times at the dealer and just could not get used to it. The hydro's where also a bit noisier in the cab than the gear. Lots of whine. My biggest issue with hydros though is some of the properties i mow are VERY steep and the JD hydro tractors i have rented in the past fall flat on their faces going up hill. The hydro sucks WAAAY to much away from your usable horsepower. I also don't like how they act when it's 20 below zero........

Did he try to talk you out of hydro? I've known him forty years and trust him, but get the impression he thinks I should not get a hydro.
I think most of my use is going to be loader either with bucket,grapple or stacking hay.
Maybe I need to talk to him again and tell him exactly what I'm going to use it for.
We heat entirely with wood and hoping it makes my back a lot happier. I am visualizing no brush stacking and no picking up eighty pound blocks of wood and lugging them to a trailer.

Magees didn't have a hydro on hand, is supposed to get me one.
I have always loaded my own rear tires with methanol. But my tractors are prehistoric. Has anything changed?
I get methanol at a tire shop and dilute with water. I use a 12 volt pump off a Fimco sprayer along with the fluid adapter and it's a fairly easy job

Hopefully I can update my profile next week. Got a text from owner of Magees and he said I would have it next week. Getting a XR4046H with 72" grapple and bale spear. Industrial tires seem the way to go also. I don't plan on doing much plowing or discing with this tractor. My wife wants to know why I need three tractors. You guys have any reasonable explanations???? Please?
