ACTIVE: JDX730 DAYS GONE BY: JD3010, JD790, JD425
I’m searching for the best solution to make-up for the shortfall in the X730 design, no rear flashers. I live in rural NH and we have some very hilly & winding roads so I need the best safety protection while I’m cutting or plowing along the road. On the X730 each rear light housing consists of a RED Lens and a Clear Lens. When going in reverse the bulb under the clear lens activates, also when choosing the “All Lights On” selector switch the bulb under the clear lens activates. Wondering if I can replace the clear lens JD UC12940 bulb with a 3157 amber flashing or strobe bulb (if there is such a thing). I’m not concerned about the reverse light function. If this is possible, I’d simply select the “All Lights” when working along the road and hopefully a bright LED amber bulb would be flashing, to alert drivers coming up behind me. Question, since I know nothing about LED Bulb Design is there a bulb that flashes or strobes when power is applied. Thanks

Beenthere thanks for the response, not in their road, as stated: I’m cutting or plowing along the road. That means where the end of the driveway intersects the road. I'm hoping someone can answer the question about a flashing 3157 bulb.

I meant being in the road ROW (right of way). But you have a plan so wish you well going forward with that plan.

I believe European version of X7** have turn signals so makes me wonder if wiring is there just need to figure out where flasher plugs in.

Maybe they have completely different circuit boards.

oldnslo, Thanks for the response, yes, I also read the euro version had turn signals and I believe a flasher selection, I'll have to research that. It would be nice if I could find a flashing LED bulb, one that flashes when power is applied and doesn't need a separate flasher unit, if there's such a thing. The "All Lights On" selector certainly supplies continued power to the clear lens in the light assembly. Before buying this '22 X730 I owned a true workhorse, a 425 that had flashers, really miss that machine.

Google search showed some flashing bulb options but not sure if they flash continuous or for a few seconds and then go solid. I.e. brake application

I recently went from X540 with no tail light to X738 So the lights to me are an improvement.

oldnslo, went through the gambit of LED Bulbs and decided just too hard to have a blinking bulb under the rear clear lens. Reading some other site similar to this I eventually ordered for the front: JDM ASTAR Bright White Max 50W High Power 881 LED Fog Light Bulbs and for the Rears: AUXITO 3157 LED Bulbs Reverse Lights, Super Bright 3056 3156 3057 4157 LED Bulbs with Projector for Reverse Back Up Lights Tail Brake Signal Parking Lights, 6000K White, and, AUXITO 3157 LED Bulbs Red, Super Bright 3056 3156 3057 4157 LED Bulbs with Projector for Brake Lights Tail Lights Stop Turn Signal Reverse Back Up Parking Marker Lights. We'll see how they work.

Sriddle,
I hope those different bulbs and lens provide the illumination that you desire.

If you want them to flash look this up on Amazon I don't think it will work with led's.
What you can do is wire both L&R to one side of the blinker. $17 fix plus wiring and amber bulb.

garry1p, Thanks for the response. From reading different blogs, LEDs need special switches.

As mentioned in my previous post I purchased the static LEDs and easily switched them out as illustrated in this YouTube.

Flashing Strobes - This morning this video did catch my interest for the rear strobe lights;
I liked how he wired them to new switches where I have blanks. Lots of work, a bit too much for me to undertake but the results were pretty nice. I'll just have to live with the design omission, no flashers.
